i dont like ppl being all "sotha sil is an uwu soft boy" sometimes bc like.
does he feel bad about killing nerevar? yes. however. it was also very importantly his idea and he did go along with it. i think he, like vivec, did what he thought was right at any given moment. but hindsight is 20/20 so he realized after the fact that killing nerevar was probably not actually the best course of action
Preach. It's overlooked far too often that Sil was the one who came up with the entire thing, who cracked the Tools of Kagrenac and how to use them to become gods using Dagoth's example, and the one who was most vocal in giving Azura the middle finger when she came to punish the Tribunal for breaking their oath.
He just comes across as a very hurt and very bitter person to me. It's just that by the time he became a god he had been broken so thoroughly by the weight of his own divine perspective and his actions as a mortal that he has nothing left to do but regret. We're even directly told that he invented the mnemonic planisphere specifically to remove and store away his own memories and feelings because they interfere too much with his work.
yeah this is what i mean. i see a lot of ppl saying vivec is the worst because he lies, or ayem is truly selfish and egotistical, but i think sil would be, in practice, the worst one. i think people take divayth's claims as objective fact when he's very biased (and also very importantly: sucks ass in his own way)
i dont think he is irredeemable nor is he just awful while the others are good and wonderful and perfect. i just think ppl are really giving him a lot of credit bc in eso he is a long haired sad boy. and i say this a frequent long haired sad boy enjoyer. and that he is the first to get killed off without even the player's intervention, so ppl like to see him as solely a victim, not someone who could perpetuate violence or orchestrate horrible situations. i think he also doesnt treat his followers very well iirc but i could also be wrong on that front
