Crestline Sky Scarf 2K15

Finished catching up with May!

One row of snow followed by five days of clear sunshine. Oh look, there is a pattern after all!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the weekends are a bit busy around here, so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's posts (and stripes!) will be up on Monday. It's been an interesting start, lots of stripes at the very beginning!

It stuck.

It's snowing! It may not stick, but I'm calling it now. Sparkly blue stripe it is! It's one in the morning, technically it's the 8.

Lightly raining today, everything is damp but the sky doesn't look that different from yesterday so here is our dirt and the tree in the wet. Grey for precipitation that isn't snow,and not thunderstorms. You can just barely see the pattern beginning to line up in the white rows, now that they're a bit farther from the needle. The beginning stages of this pattern don't look great, but it had a wonderful texture when it builds on itself. I always have this urge to get a scarf past the square stage and into something that has a bit of length (and therefore looks like a scarf) as soon as possible, so this will be an exercise in patience. Cast on! Knit the first two rows today. I have finally acquired a blue! It is a decent blue, and it has some cashmere in it so it's washable, too. The first month here has been... fraught with all sorts of things to say the least, but I'm looking forward to starting this project.

The house is in the final stage of escrow, we're pretty much done except for the waiting.  More waiting, yay!

Box #2, I had high hopes for this one but all the blues are rejects. (The light sparkly blue was a long shot anyway, though I might save it back for days when it's snowing.) One more order is on the way, with various blues that are not Stroll yarn, and a skein of Bare in case none of those work, either.

The yarn came! A couple colors were darker or much more green than were useful for this project, so I've got a few more blue shades coming. The main sky color might even be variegated or sparkly!

(I know, I know, sock yarn isn't superfine but the bag was cute and knocked it over the free shipping threshold.)

Now for the pattern, do I stick with the basic garter stitch, or try something else?  I do like the feather and fan examples I've seen, but I've never actually knit that pattern.  Grater stitch is great, and there's absolutely no chance of forgetting the pattern.  But perhaps an old favorite, the farrow rib would do.  I can practically knit that one in my sleep, and I think it will have the advantage of the edge being set back slightly.  With a heavily variegated yarn it can look busy, but it might add visual interest to the scarf.
