i hate how the fandom for the black phone (1 and 2) is dying out. like why can’t this fandom stay alive, even after the movies were done? there are a lot of fandoms not dead yet tbp fandom isn’t? 😭

My favourite hero vs villain dynamic in horror! Still a crime there wasn't more scenes between these two phenomenal actors in the sequel!

Totally!! Their dynamic was so dark and intense – perfect for a horror movie.

It doesn’t bother me that Gwen’s psychic powers are the driving force of the plot and what gets them to Alpine Lake rather than Finney’s, it does bother me a lot she got the call at the end. Getting calls is Finney’s thing, dreams are hers - and more importantly he’s the one with Survivor’s Guilt who needed the reassurance that he did help the other victims. Gwen getting that message is so much less impactful. We could’ve had a scene or moment of closure about Gwen’s mom and dreams, but the final scene is the emotional end-note of the film and Finney should’ve gotten that. He already didn’t get enough scenes in the movie and had his trauma sidelined by Gwen, the ending should’ve at least been his closure. Gwen has her own trauma and that could’ve gotten some attention, I don’t agree with people who are acting like she has no trauma or right to be upset. But Finney was the one in the basement, he is the victim, and at points the movie almost seems to treat The Grabber as Gwen’s abuser instead of Finney’s. She gets all these big moments but even Finney’s scene of crying and telling his family how traumatized he is has little payoff. It feels disappointing how the movie didn’t seem willing to actually dive into Finney’s trauma and went for a “safer”, more generic Freddy Kruger-type horror movie.

They were trying so hard to establish that ‘shocking’ link between the Grabber and the Blake family that they got carried away and didn’t realize how lame it looked.
