Phenomenon type: Conspiracy (Motivation: To gather power, keep secrets, and create confusion)
The Red Root Coven is a terrorist organization with Environmentalist ideology and New Age trappings, who claim to be soldiers for the spirit of the earth who seek to remind humanity âOf their proper placeâ and bring about the destruction of modern society as we know it.
This is all true, but leaves out two important details: One, the new age trappings are more than just an aesthetic choice, they are an actual coven of real witches, and two, they are vampires.
The Red Root Coven was founded in England during the Industrial Revolution by a small cabal of vampires whom saw the rampant growth and pollution humans were producing, and were convinced humanity would destroy itself and render the earth a wasteland if allowed to progress as they were, leaving Vampire kind with no food. At the time the Coven only consisted of three vampires, and they were able to do very little on their own; they burned down some factories and murdered a few robber barons, but they could not stem the tide of progress.
In the modern day, the Red Roots have about sixty members, and continue their efforts of sabotage and murder against the infrastructures of man. They burn down oil rigs, they murder corporate executives, they place hexes and curses on factory foreman. All with the end goal to destroy human civilization and reduce humans to small feudal states ruled over by Vampire overlords.
Most other vampires scoff at the coven, considering them ineffectual fools at best and threats to security at worst. Most of the covens new recruits come at the hands of human environmentalist who are initiated into the coven and then turned. At the top of the Coven are the original three founders, the dark sisters, who are each a powerful vampire and an even more powerful witch.
minion type: Varies (Generally Assassin, Cultist, Right Hand, Renfield or Traitor)
This represents an average member of the Coven. They tend to operate in cells comprising groups of three. Each cell is in contact with two other cells and with the Dark Sisters themselves.
Abilities: Standard Vampiric powers, ritualistic blood based magic
Attacks: Bite 3 harm life drain intimate. Other attacks that vary.
Armor: 1 (Vampiric resilience)
Weaknesses: Standard Vampire weaknesses
Weakness of Coven itself: The only way to permanently destroy the Coven is to hunt down and destroy the dark sisters themselves. This can be difficult because not only are they well hidden and guarded, they are all immensely powerful and ancient vampires and witches of great skill. In addition each has had their heart removed and hidden, which renders them immune to normal vampire weaknesses until they are found and destroyed.
