Asexuality was classified as a mental disorder in the DSM until 2013. That is only 13 years ago.

That is the same age as a middle schooler. That is barely old enough to (legitimately) sign up for Tumblr in the USA. That is not old enough to (legitimately) use Tumblr in the EU, UK, or Australia.

Asexuality, even though it is not officially classified as a disorder anymore, is still seen that way by many. It can take a long time for people to switch their thinking.

My own mother still sees it that way. A while back (maybe 2 years ago) I tried to bring up to her the idea of me being ace and she told me that I couldn’t be because there must be something wrong for someone to be and I was fine and normal.

The Switch 2 is getting a price increase for the US, Europe, and Canada:

$500 USD, $680 CAD, and €500, Japan from ¥49980 to ¥59980.

It goes into effect Sept1, Japan even earlier on May25.

Guess who watched Markiplier's Iron Lung, and was tempted to do some fan art shortly after, despite currently being rusty with drawing.

I wanted to do something simple and artsty-fartsy anyway, like various fan posters I've seen, and this was the result. Hopefully its good enough for the growing fandom.

As for the movie itself, it was really good! It wasn't without problems as there were indeed some pacing issues like everyone's been saying, mainly around the middle half of the film. It was also hard to tell what the characters were saying at times (I imagine some of this was intentional though, given the character's voices were either coming from outside a welded-in hull, or a crackly old radio), and I admit it was kind of hard to separate Markiplier from Simon the unfortunate convict at first.

Thankfully, this got better as the film went on, and holy shit can Markiplier act! I knew he could after 'Markiplier in Space Part 2", but still! When he said 'I just want to live...' in that tone of voice, something inside me broke. It was done so well.

Acting aside, the film expanded on the lore from the original game in a good way, it felt like an actual movie despite the tiny budget, it used its setting well, and finally, it nailed the madness and cosmic horror. I still have no idea what was real and what wasn't, what the entity within the blood ocean was and what it meant, and whether the black box info contained genuine hope for humanity, or a false one. It did so good with the ambiguity, I can't stop thinking about the movie because of it!

So yeah, I'm glad Iron Lung was good despite its flaws, and that its currently destroying the box office. I don't know what to give it in terms of ratings, maybe an 8 or a 7.5 out of 10. It'll probably require a few more re-watches before I decide.
