Seeing Verity tell mob his past and his feelings of loneliness and anger in the hopes that he would understand and drop the gun is just soo heartbreaking.
Even though Verity did some regrettable things, like killing twixxel, it was his way of preserving his ‘connection’ with mob. He was abandoned by every player he met, and mob was the only one who came back. Verity tried his best to help mob in any way he could to ensure that he wouldn't be left again, but he doesn’t know or realize that humans are very different compared to him.
He never asked to be made, and he’s just stuck forever in a cycle of meeting/helping players, seeing them leave, and then moving on to the next person. Verity is stuck in the vast world that is the internet; a sentient ai like him needs connection. He needs a human’s touch to feel complete, to fill the gaping hole of loneliness.
And mob who killed himself to escape verity is just such a cruel and sad ending for him. His guilt consumed him, the way he would blame himself for twixxel’s death. You can literally see him go through the five stages of grief:
Denial: him saying “no no no…” when he saw the blood in his house
Anger: lashing out at verity when he mimicked twixxel’s voice to ‘cheer him up’
Bargaining: contacting the verity support services to find a way to delete him
Depression: this is present in the whole video, but for specifics, the way mob was more quiet and responded sluggishly when he was talking to verity
Acceptance: when he talked to verity near the end, he realized and accepted that there is just no way to escape him. The only way, just like the customer services said, was to die—by shooting himself.
Whispy did such a good job as the voice of verity and mob cooked with the story and editing. im really excited to see what other projects they will do next🥹
