Adrift in a world of my own

"I reread Bram Stoker's novel and was surprised when I realized that it told of a great love story: the tale of a man who waited 400 years with the hope of meeting again his late wife."

The Crime has been committed again, I'm afraid, but what's worse is that I found this through the trailer's comments.

I wonder if this is done because:

people like barn owls better (completely understandable);

the english language lacks imagination and all owls are called "[insert an adjectif/a combination of adjectives] owl" so that when you want to refer to a strigiform without going into details you just say "owl", erasing the difference between species and letting people interpret it as they want/can;

people think that the "little" in Little owl (Athene noctua) is not part of the name of the species but a subjective comment;

(this is about EPIC only) someone in the cast specifically said that Athena is a barn owl;

accuracy doesn't really matter, people just want to have fun (again, completely understandable).

By the way Tyto alba and Athene noctua are both european species that would be seen in Greece. Often, though, artist illustrate the American barn owl (Tyto furcata) or other species living in different continents/regions.

I feel like the jackal fits him well, they have a lot of things in common.
