what we know about kuva liches so far:
- they are grineer who have gained the queens’ favor by killing a lot or really well, and are granted immortality as they near the end of their lifespan
- they look like normal grineer until they ‘die’ for the first time, after which their appearance is based on whatever killed them, oftentimes even taking a copy of their killers’ head or mask to wear as a trophy
- they cannot be killed by traditional means, and after receiving fatal damage will just enter a ‘downed’ state for a few seconds, before self-reviving
- every lich looks and acts different, with many having specific quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. they also have their own signature version of a weapon that only they use.
what we know about clem as a character so far:
- is apparently enough of a threat in the eyes of the grineer that when they captured him, rather than execute him outright, they locked him up in a high-security underwater cell on uranus guarded by not just any wardens, but the grustrag three, who themselves are so dangerous that they’re only ever pitted against the tenno because they have a habit of brutally dismembering their fellow grineer when they get too bored
- has a unique model with significant differences from the typical lancer, and if you look closely at his noggle, you’ll notice that he’s actually wearing two masks layered on top of eachother, as well as unique cosmetics such as his roller and syandana
- cannot permanently die during weekly missions, and if he’s not revived after being downed, will self-resurrect (albeit with a fraction of his maximum health) and continue on his way
- has a distinct personality and unique speech quirk, and is the only npc that is able to use the twin grakatas, a weapon which was added to the game specifically for him
conclusion: clem was originally a prototype kuva lich who went rogue and defected
