aren't you sick of these Starfleet events?
We've had gacha RPGs about libraries and pharmaceutical companies as paramilitary organisations – I feel like the next obvious unexplored frontier is public transit. The player takes on the role of a route planning director for a puzzlingly well armed quasi-governmental transit agency. All of your agents have bus driver aesthetic.
You'd think providing free public transit would be a no brainer in terms of maintaining good relations with existing nation-states, but in practice a lot of them hate you because you provide bus service to places people aren't supposed to be able to leave. There's a whole quest line about keeping Route 666 to Hell up and running.
That route must cost a lot in road maintenance since you have to repave it using good intentions instead of asphalt.
You're working for an organisation that's willing to fight demons to keep a bus route open. Good intentions are not in short supply!

Squinting grumpily at the latest "system-neutral fantasy sourcebook" trying to puzzle out which specific version of Dungeons & Dragons the author is picturing when they imagine a perfectly generic RPG.
Flip to the section on elves, maybe you can tell by how many well-intentioned reparative racial subcategories there are.
Sometimes in spite of the complete absence of explicit game mechanics you can 100% tell that the sourcebook in question is situated in a milieu in which "elf" is a character class.

I see a lot of people on reposting news articles of people warning about how ai will cause the apocalypse any day now usually with headlines like “Anthropic CEO Warns That Artificial Intelligence Will End Humanity in the Next 5 Years” or “Open AI Publishes Study On AI’s Desire to Preserve Itself Over Humanity.” And usually responses are people moaning about how doomed we all are. But if we could take off our panic party hats and put on our critical thinking caps, some things start to become clear. Because come on folks, do we really think Sam Altman and Elon Musk are warning us about the dangers of AI out of the goodness of their hearts? Do you really think Anthropic is pushing for AI regulation because they believe that’s what’s best for the world? Not to mention all the alleged funding of anti-ai influencers (I couldn’t find a major news outlet confirming this, just a lot of independent journalists and YouTubers so I’d take this with a grain of salt.)
If we look at the facts, experts don’t think an AI apocalypse is remotely likely in the near future. All of the non-AI company-affiliated scientists thinks it’s BS.
However, big tech wants us to believe AI is this very powerful unstoppable force so that it will get regulated in a way that gives them a monopoly over it. They want a system with AI that is completely under the control of the government and elite CEO’s so that they can do whatever they want with it.
To be clear, this is not me saying that AI is good (never ew) or that all AI regulation is inherently bad (we need some transparency laws and we need them yesterday) or that AI isn’t dangerous. What I am saying is that you still need to think critically about content that seems to agree with you, especially when that content is also being made by billionaire (or trillionare) tech CEO’s and that maybe you should consider that the people telling you AI is about to cause an apocalypse are also selling you something.
TL;DR
YOU (yes you) are not immune to AI propaganda
I know it can be scary...to do the dishes.

In one of my film classes last semester we had to tell a story in 3 pictures for a mini assignment so my friend and I did this

Oh god I think this might be it for Mitch McConnell, the last time he was hospitalized they said he was in critical condition but it looked like he was going to pull through. This time we do not know why he was hospitalized and all we've gotten is "he's receiving excellent care" like...oof! That's not good! For him.

@crackerjackalope exactly my immediate thought as well that I went to the tags first just to see is someone else was on the same page. Why did the do That.
Thinking about it, and I’d like to forward the idea that prejudice against single people (aromantics, asexuals, and also just… anyone who does not have a romantic partner) follows dynamics less like anti-queer bigotry and more akin to anti-fat bigotry.
Fatness, like singlehood, is seen at large as a state of failure. Everybody is supposed to want to be [thin / partnered], and if you are not, that is a personal failure on your part, and you are pathetic and mock-worthy. The popular idea is that of course everybody wants to be [thin / partnered], and everybody is striving towards the goal, and anybody who is not [thin / partnered] is either temporarily inconvenienced on their way to correctness, or has something fundamentally wrong with them. And because [fatness / singlehood] is something that is treated as fixable, if you have not fixed it, then there is something wrong with you—and thus discriminating against you is acceptable, because your [fatness / singlehood] is based on your own bad choices.
The world is, in some cases quite literally, not built for fat or single people. If you are fat or single, the world is much more difficult or expensive to live in, because it is structurally designed for the assumption that you are thin or that you have a partner. The normative Person, after all, is thin and romantically partnered. If you are not thin or not romantically partnered, there is something fundamentally less human about you.
[Fatness / singlehood] is something embarrassing, something worth mocking others over, something that reflects your fundamental unworthiness. Every fictional hero is thin, every fictional happy ending ends with romance. Everyone in your life is either quietly or not-so-quietly worried about you.
And all this is fine and acceptable. Because in the general perception, [fatness / singlehood] is not a real axis of bigotry. It’s a choice! You could just become a different person and stop being [fat / single]! You deserve the mockery, the derision, the attempts to fix you, the world not accommodating you, because you could just become a better person and stop being [fat / single] at any point. So it’s your own fault people treat you badly, really.

Happy another homestuck day for those who still practice it
every day of my life i read someone being like “why doesn’t this story just solve the problem immediately and casually? they just drag it out and make it an issue” well. because that’s the Story
