Apparently People Have Intro Posts!

Hi! This is an intro post! I post pictures I take of bugs I find! Or, sometimes, just pictures of bugs in general. I'll also make the occasional shitpost and reblog stuff about whatever game I happen to be obsessed with at the time.

I also like Rain World and DELTARUNE a normal amount.

Today's wasp of the day is Phaneroserphus calcar!

There is exactly one record from 1981 of this wasp emerging from a host no other wasp has been known to even come close to: a centipede, specially the common stone centipede (Lithobius forficatus).

While this is likely an error in observation or a one off peculiarity (stone centipedes are common in the same environs the wasp's typical beetle hosts are), it brings up the question of why? If wasps can use spiders and ticks as hosts, why are there no known wasps that use myriapods (an order that is closer to insects than arachnids)?
