Anecdotes aren’t evidence. The reason YOU specifically didn’t get sick is because of something called Mass Immunity.

That means that since everyone ELSE is vaccinated (you’re welcome), there’s nowhere for the virus to establish a hold. That mass immunity is the only thing that keeps people who CANNOT vaccinate—like the immunocompromised—from catching it.

The second that people stop vaccinating, that immunity disappears and the disease resurges, as is clear from the fact that the US is currently experiencing an epidemic of a disease that was projected to become extinct in our lifetimes.

Considering that there’s a whole host of people in my age range who weren’t vaccinated enough (even I was missing the second dose of MMR until recently) getting the measles and the mumps I think it’s ridiculous that we’re arguing over a life and death situation. Literally, do you want to live or die?

Also, even if you weren’t vaccinated and never got sick–at least not visibly–that doesn’t preclude the possibility that you picked up a virus and passed it on without knowing it. 

Maybe you had…oh, let’s say measles. But you had no symptoms. Or maybe you had a fever,  or sore eyes, or a harsh dry cough, but that was it. But nothing that said anything was seriously wrong. And in the meantime, you went about your business. Maybe you waited for a bus with an old man, or shared an aisle at the store with a pregnant woman and her wailing one-year-old, or attended a party with your friends.  

And the disease you didn’t know you had? That passed on to the people you met, or to people that they met. The disease you didn’t know you had was passed to a friend at that party, and she passed it to her mother and father, they passed it to their workmates, and now two offices are sick with your measles. The old man you saw at the bus stop? He got pneumonia as a result of the measles you passed to him. The pregnant woman from the store? She miscarried. Her baby, who was too young to be vaccinated? She developed encephalitis and died. 

Telling a celebrity what you want to do to them is the same as cat calling women on the street. Its a form of harassment and intimidating. It’s a big reason many women celebs don’t go to photo ops or comic cons.

The only reason that people get away with it is because they are mainly women harassing men. It’s just as scary to men. And when you are underage and saying these things to an adult man (like teen girls do to Tom Holland) it’s doubly scary.

A left-handed person walks into most classrooms and immediately is made aware of their left-handedness - they have to sit in a left-handed seat, which restricts their choices of where to sit. If there are not enough left-handed seats, they will have to sit in a right-handed seat and be continuously aware of their left-handedness. (There are other examples like left-handed scissors or baseball mitts as well.)

Meanwhile, right-handed people have much more choice about where to sit, and almost never have to think about their right-handedness.

Does this mean right-handed people are bad? No.

Does it mean that we should replace all right-handed desks with left-handed desks? No.

But could we maybe use different desk styles that can accommodate everyone and makes it so nobody has limited options or constant awareness that they are different? Yes.

Attention everyone!!!

Especially those in Keizer/Salem/Portland Oregon area!!! But this applies everywhere!

Be VERY wary of individuals going door to door selling “children’s books” or anyone trying to sell children products.

These are sex/human traffickers!!!

Just about half an hour ago a man with a very heavy European accent came to our door trying to sell “children’s books”. He kept asking things like “are you the mom?” “You have kids? yes?” “there are kids here yes?”

Even after he was told to leave and we weren’t interested he kept asking “you have kids? Yes?”

He saw me and my little sister (both minors) just sitting on the couch as my mom yelled at him to leave and finally left. We have called the police on him but I’m sure he isn’t the only one.

Sex/human trafficking isn’t anything new but I felt like I should warn anyone who might not know what they do to get what they want.

They’ve done things like sell door to door, put up fake job flyers, fake babysitting services, etc!

So please… PLEASE be very careful when it comes to things like this! And call the police for any strange activity! Better safe than sorry!

There once was a young boy with a very bad temper. The boy’s father wanted to teach him a lesson, so he gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper he must hammer a nail into their wooden fence.

On the first day of this lesson, the little boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. He was really mad!

Over the course of the next few weeks, the little boy began to control his temper, so the number of nails that were hammered into the fence dramatically decreased.

It wasn’t long before the little boy discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Then, the day finally came when the little boy didn’t lose his temper even once, and he became so proud of himself, he couldn’t wait to tell his father.

Pleased, his father suggested that he now pull out one nail for each day that he could hold his temper.

Several weeks went by and the day finally came when the young boy was able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

Very gently, the father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.

“You have done very well, my son,” he smiled, “but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.”

The little boy listened carefully as his father continued to speak.
