one day we may get to see them dancing............ i have Hope in my heart for this. NEVER GIVE UP
So because the show has to be rebooted, the next series can be set back in time with Jo Martin as the doctor, right? Right?
Here is another doctor who take: I DO get why people didn't like Disney who did I DO get why people didn't like the Chibnall era but I do NOT get why it doesn't seem to register with people that going 'they should roll the show back to Capaldi's regeneration' is just an unbelievably bad look
Maybe I am giving these people too much credit and they are just open sexists & racists who know exactly what they're saying but. Regardless of their intentions they are saying 'we should roll back to the last time the doctor was a white man'
FUCK RTD.
"Some of my friends are gender critical". Fuck you, seriously.
How can you say you support trans rights but still be friends with transphobes? Right. Because for all your theoretical support it doesn't personally affect you. 🤬
From an article from the Guardian (so ew already) about his new show.
The creator of It’s a Sin is back – and he’s furious. His new series, Tip Toe, explores the rise of homophobia through a feud between two Ma

Promo pics of the 3rd Doctor, taken during the filming of "Doctor Who And the Silurians"
Actually hate it when a character's personality-defining, long-hinted-at backstory turns out to be just 'my parent/sibling/partner/best friend died'. Like sure, it's fine if that's the case for some characters - people lose people, particularly in the kind of dramatic scenarios stories tend to be set in - but not every tragic backstory has to be 'I lost someone and I can't cope'. There are so many ways to suffer. There's a plethora of fucked up things out there that people go through that don't even involve death. Just choose one of those. I'm begging you
Doctor Who fandom in 1976: “The Deadly Assassin” is just such an unnecessary title, though. I mean, it’s a tautology—what kind of assassin isn’t deadly??
Doctor Who, seven years later:

Phasmophobia just released what is probably the worst character customiser i have ever seen 😞 just wanted to make ryan and shane in the game, is that too much to ask?
got myself a little present yippee
Paddy Kingsland's music for Logopolis has to be one of the best things about the serial. The haunting imagery of the watcher and the general sense of doom in the episode made a huge impression on me when I first watched it, but it's the accompanying score that elevates it to unforgettable.
In the regeneration scene when the sorrowful motif changes and turns major then flutters upwards as the doctor changes and becomes younger, then ends with that chilling oo-wee-oo to let you know that this new guy is a mystery but still the same old Doctor... augh it gives me the shivers every time
It was such a modern soundtrack too, making full use of the beautiful 80s synths that would define the Davison era. It's like the whole show regenerated with Baker. And when the new (for the season anyway) Howell theme comes slamming in after the oo-wee-oo with that wonderful momentum, it just feels so fresh and exciting!!!
do sometimes see comments around missing episodes along the lines of 'haha what if they find an episode and the doctor who fans realise it was bad all along' and i'm always like hmm this seems like a pretty fundamental misunderstanding of the fandom tbph
like i'm sure there IS a demographic of people who were dr who viewers in the 60s who might be disappointed to watch a returned episode and realise it's not as epic or scary as they remembered. but if they've engaged with 60s who as an adult previously they'll probably already know that and if they've never re-engaged with 60s who i would question how big of a dr who fan they are
it's also like, in previous generations an episode being Missing meant there was no way for most people to engage with it but this is no longer the case? when we say 'wow I wish they'd find X episode' we aren't basing that on it's reputation or 60 year old memories, we're basing it on having listened to the audio recording/watched a reconstruction/read the script and thinking it was good.
there HAVE been some cases where stories underwent big re-evaluations (I think Celestial Toymaker has been the biggest?) but those were cases where the fandom at large really didn't know anything about the story in question except what people old enough to have watched it could remember. Everyone has access to a lot of information about missing episodes these days.
there's also this sentiment that people will realise they're 'bad' when we see the 60s visuals and it's like well we've all watched 60s who! we know what it looks like? We're not gonna be shocked when we watch a returned episode and it looks like every other episode of Doctor Who from its era?
and then there's the elephant in the room that is Enemy of the World there the consensus was that it was kind of boring and then on rediscovery everyone realised that it actually Fucked Severely.
Glad to see Jo Martin's doctor get more outings in this Circuit Breaker thing but the fact she's gone straight to audio makes me less than hopeful we'll see more of her in the main series. Seems like a huge waste. She deserves better than some opaque expensive multimedia 'experience' that most people will forget about immediately. What was stopping them giving her a proper series of the main tv show, either as a flashback or some wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing? (After all, they brought back David Tennant!)

Second Doctor Comedy Twirls
90% of the reason The Time Meddler is so good is that they absolutely nailed the characterisation. The actual plot is very sparse and mostly consists of the TARDIS team going between the village and the monastery and farcically managing to miss each other every time. But Hartnell is at his scheming hee hee hoo hoo best, and the monk is the perfect foil for his doctor. Vicki is cheeky and assertive and doesn't let Steven take the lead just because he's a man. Steven's skeptical and brash and still kind of crazy after years of isolation. They've known each other for five minutes and already they have the cutest sibling dynamic. 'You can have some blackberries or some blackberries' I LOVE THEMMM
