American and got 10 out of 12 correct. the two I missed was because I second-guessed myself after reading the clue instead of going based off the picture.

here’s a gentle reminder to accept that some bad things happened this year. maybe you were heartbroken, maybe you failed a test, tried your best to no avail, lost someone, made some bad decisions, said things you didn’t mean. some weren’t within your control, some things you can learn from, that’s ok. accepting them means you can move on and begin the new year with a new slate. don’t carry this weight with you into next year and blame yourself forever for little mistakes everyone makes. you don’t deserve this. you’re only human. focus on good things that happened, they’re easy to overlook. you did better than you think, met new people and overcame many challenges. be proud of yourself this year.

Men don’t realize what stuff like this does to young girls growing up. The effect it has on us, never seeing ourselves in power. Just like young children of color never see themselves in power. It’s just picture after picture of white men in black suits, over and over and over again. They’ll never understand what that’s like.

A related problem is what this does to young boys—and especially young, white boys. This creates the idea that white men are the default members of society, and this is partly why, by the time they’re 18, so many white men are completely incapable of empathising with marginalised peoples.

Representation matters.
