And I was always very focused on my studies. So... I may or may not be interested in the subject matter for current reasons that may or may not be applicable to my life circumstances.

Now I can’t say I have a lot of relationship advice (most of it was grand gestures a la the novels, very commonplace on the Seventh as you know)

But! I probably saw the most sickeningly sweet, wonderful, relationship play out in Pro and Mia. So I’ve got some good advice

Figuring out how to pursue a relationship is probably the most nerve wracking thing in the WORLD. (You should have seen Pro when he met Mia)

For you, I would say examine your feelings. Sit with them. How much do you know them? Can you imagine a life with them? Do your ideas of your future line up?

Additionally, how do they make you feel? Are there butterflies? Or a warm feeling of contentment when you’re with them? Does your heart light up when you see them?

As for pursing the relationship I would say the best thing really is communication! Pro was inconsolable for months worrying about whether Mia liked him, but I told him that he ought to hurry up and just ask her because I would rather like to see their wedding. So he showed up with her favourite flowers, and a card, and asked if Mia would like to go on a date with him. And she said yes!

Talk to them, see what they want, whether that be a relationship or not. Figure what is comfortable for the both of you! No relationship is the same and there are no definitive prerequisites for them! But talk to each other. And listen to what the other says.

Make sure they value you!! You are an absolutely wonderful woman and whomever has caught your interest better treat you right or they will have ME to contend with 😠😠😠

I thought it was very simple. We’re twins, Corona is my heart. She is the beauty, and I am the wit (sorry, Darling). I’ve worked my whole life for her to shine, and I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. One day we’ll be together again. There is nothing in the world I wouldn’t do to keep her safe.

Something something how both Lyctor ascensions in Gideon the Ninth are easily read as allegories for sexual assault but in, like, sorta opposite directions.

Like it's pretty difficult to miss the metaphor in Naberius Tern being violently penetrated from behind and forced into a noncon soul union. That's very surface-level literary analysis there. And Gideon essentially coercing Harrow into eating her soul against her will is easy to read into that framework, too, even though Gideon doesn't understand just how much of a shitty thing that is to do to her.

But then, depending on how much we buy into the (very credible, imo) theory that Corona, not Ianthe, killed Naberius, we can complicate the first scenario with the possibility that Ianthe was not a fully willing participant. Of course this doesn't absolve Ianthe of being a perpetrator -- the noncon soul union was all her doing, after all, and I don't know that we can entirely dismiss the possibility that Corona was acting on her orders-- but it does raise some questions.

Oh, and going back to Gideon forcing Lysis on Harrow-- something something this has apparently happened at least twice before--to Mercy and Augustine. Who were both deeply traumatized by it. But couldn't bring themselves to blame their respective cavs for it, instead displacing their anger onto the other's cav, and subsequently onto the other themselves. Which I'm sure someone more eloquent than me can unpack in regards to people who've been victimized in some way by their loved ones, latching onto excuses as to why it is not their loved one's fault.

And yet, despite those isolated cases of a cav violating their necro's consent, cavs are the ones who are more routinely and systemically exploited.
