The river was roaring today following the large rain system that had moved up the east coast. (We've had over 8 inches of rain thus far this month, which is now our wettest December on record.) This view is from a pedestrian bridge connecting the river's north & south banks.

This was the strongest of a regional outbreak of tornadoes across Southern Oklahoma with this twister coming in at an EF-4. A second tornado from this storm a bit later might’ve been even stronger, but it took a path across mostly open terrain. One of the chief weaknesses of the Enhanced Fujita scale is that it is a damage scale – so it needs tornadoes to actually hit something when they are at their strongest to be truly accurate. But it is also the best possible scale we have since it is pretty much unfeasible to rate tornadoes by any alternative method with any better accuracy. The Enhanced Fujita scale is based heavily on hard science, which makes it the best available option. #weather #science #nature #tornado #twister #storm #ef4tornado #oklahoma
