Okay so hear me out

Modern AU where Kakashi is basically a single mom who works two jobs

Kakashi is a fire fighter and after getting recruited to Minato’s station he forms connections with all of his coworkers and gets close to Minato and his wife. Looking up to him as a sort of father figure after losing his own father so young. Kakashi is for once content with life and helps Minato and Kushina as they prep the house for their soon to be newborn baby.

During night at the station, the same night the family of three arrived home from the hospital, the alarms blared and it was time to go, only the location of the fire is at the Captains house. Upon arrival Minato comes rushing out from inside the house shoving an infant Naruto into Kakashi’s arms, screaming at him to protect his son, keep him safe, before he disappears back into the house.

Minato doesn’t make it back out and neither does Kushina.

One thing leads to another and Kakashi fosters Naruto until he eventually adopts him. YIPPEEEEEE

And then they live in a two-bedroom apartment until Naruto turns 5 when another boy is in need of a home, enter 7 yr old Sasuke. They move into a house and they are just the goofiest little makeshift family ever.

Also Sakura lives next door so she’s over all the time to ensue chaos with the boys YIPPEEEEE
