My journey began as a young coogara in the central part of the planet, Chinatsu. I lived with my two wonderful parents, Zario and Anna, and my younger brother, Ammas. Our village on Chinatsu is like a tribe. We come together to gather food, have fun in forms of entertainment and music, and hunt for survival. Most Coogarians (Coogara is singular) live near the center of the planet. Only the toughest warriors and voyagers travel to the Northern and Southern poles. The poles are filled with gigantic beasts that resemble large insects in the South and canine beasts to the north. Our planet is mostly land with some exceptions such as Oasis and Oceans near the center..and some frozen parts of the north. In the South, most of the water is underground in deep tunnels. Our ancestors passed around tales of Voltron throughout the generations but only a few actually believe in the tales. In my family, we hold the secret to the true tale of Voltron. Ammas is too young to understand at the time, but when I was a teen I accidently came across an old tunnel entrance that had cave drawings of the lions of Voltron. I was too young and inexperienced to understand but later on my father explained the origin of Voltron. A great defender of the universe to all people. We are not the only ones on our planet and one day we will have to defend our lands from the ‘purple’ ones. This I too learned the hard way.

On the 5th moon in the middle of the year, I was out in the valley a few miles from our village. Our valley connects to the tunnels, but this area contained remnants of mechanical parts that once ‘fell’ out of the sky. In actuality, we once had visitors from far away but our people wish to not believe in such tales. Anyways, Ammas was on one of his adventures looking for parts for this device he had been working on for days. I decided to keep watch, standing alert ontop of the hill. Suddenly a dark mass covered our precious light. The valley grew dark and quiet, except for the glowing red orbs falling from the sky. In fear, I ran to grab my brother’s hand, dragging him towards the ancient tunnel that I discovered as a child. “Don’t look back!” I yelled as I ran to take cover in the tunnel. I threw him over my shoulder into the dark tunnel, not knowing how deep it ran.. just as a blast came towards my direction. Over the hill the ‘purple’ ones came..thousands upon thousands from ships of all kinds. 

Like a blur of light..I was taken by surprise from behind and knocked unconscious. When I finally awoke, I was not home. I was not on my planet anymore..just in a cold and dark cell with my family and several of our kind..and others I did not know of what they were..or where they came from…

The new tracks namesake Hind’s Hall echoes the honours that Columbia University encampment protestors bestowed the Morningside Heights campus’ Hamilton Hall— in memory of Hind Rajab, the 6 year old Palestinian girl in Gaza who was shot by Israeli soldiers after being trapped inside a vehicle, with her dead family. She had begged to be rescued as tanks closed in on her.

Macklemore using his platform to vehemently speak out against genocide, the Israeli occupation and United States-led violence is what every single artist should be doing right now. The power of art should not be underestimated. Macklemore started out in the Hip-Hop scene within communist circles, namely working alongside Blue Scholars, and has never neglected his Leftism through out his career: the artist has spoken on issues regarding mental health, addiction, racial profiling and police violence, Capitalism, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and toxicity of American culture.

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

Scientists at UC Riverside have demonstrated a new, RNA-based vaccine strategy that is effective against any strain of a virus and can be used safely even by babies or the immunocompromised.  Every year, researchers try to predict the four influenza strains that are most likely to be prevalent during the upcoming flu season. And every year, people line up to get their updated vaccine, hoping the researchers formulated the shot correctly. The same is true of COVID vaccines, which have been reformulated to target sub-variants of the most prevalent strains circulating in the U.S. This new strategy would eliminate the need to create all these different shots, because it targets a part of the viral genome that is common to all strains of a virus. The vaccine, how it works, and a demonstration of its efficacy in mice is described in a paper published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  “What I want to emphasize about this vaccine strategy is that it is broad,” said UCR virologist and paper author Rong Hai. “It is broadly applicable to any number of viruses, broadly effective against any variant of a virus, and safe for a broad spectrum of people. This could be the universal vaccine that we have been looking for.”
