He looked at her like she was the moon, in that she was always there to guide him, but it was never enough for him. On some days she’d shine bright and inspire awe, wonder and joy in him. He would look at her and see his future, his past, his hopes, his fondest memories, perhaps he even saw a bit of himself reflected in her. She was not one to stagnate though. Ever changing, she’d go through phases where she grew dimmer. He only really paid her attention when she was beautiful and bright, or when she was absent, otherwise she was little more than a set-piece for him. Something in the background. Something he knew would always be there for him, until the day he realized that she’d been looking at someone else the whole time, and his view of the light was entirely eclipsed.
