One of my favorite inspiration is the Metamorphosis by Ovide. I love all these stories of nature gods, heroes and nymphs transforms into trees, flowers or animals... I know there is a distance to take with antic texts it's difficult to totally put aside my contempory point of view when I’m reading this book and I had to admit that consent in male-female relationships was apparently not on the agenda at Ovide's time..! Well, long story short, I've always found the myth of Danaé really visual and I'm not the first artist inspired by it. But thinking about how to illustrate it I realised that I don't want to represent something close to a sex abuse in one way or another ( a jailed women impregnated by a golden rain, seriously..?).
