Yeah, I think they tried to make him look kind of scrawny.

Oh, I’ve always thought that those lines were dimples. The very round and rather undefined structure of his chin led me to believe that the creators designed him to be a little chubby.

I think the cheek lines are the hollows of cheek bones as dimples aren’t usually so long and far out there. He looks fairly gaunt in side profile - I think he just has a wide square jaw. Some meth addicts have hollowed out cheeks so maybe that’s what they were going for?
