I would just like to preface this by saying I've been pulling up this ask to smile goofily at it like 5 times a day for like a week. YOU ARE SO SWEET LAKSDJFLKASDFJ

As my good friend Ham said when I showed her this ask, A full piece could take me anywhere between 30 minutes to like 3 months; It all depends on how crazy I'm feeling (or if I have a deadline 🥴). Being a little more specific tho, if I sit down to do something liiike some casual Kaibara art it usually takes anywhere between 1-3 hours. Variables include whether or not I can choose the right music, whether or not I sat down with a specific idea, and whether or not I sink a good portion of that time into Pinteresting for references and inspo. And of course there's whether I'm in a cell-shading or a more painterly kinda mood.

Here's a timelapse for a piece I did today, I think it took me about an hour and a half!

Liiike, Kaibara introduced Elliott to the wonderful world of large silk bonnets. I think he probably stayed over one night and saw her wearing one and was like....what sorcery is this. She definitely owns a ton of them (probably makes one every time she finds a fabric she likes 🤷🏿‍♀️) so she gave him a couple, and now you likely won't find him without one whenever he's all fitted out for bedtime. They would help shorten his hours long hair styling routine by like...a whole 20 minutes maybe. LMAO

Next, as someone who devours books like nobody's business (they probably met at the library for the first time, in fact, and soon enough, they have a little book club between the two of them) Kaibara would love having an active role in Elliott's writing process. He considers her the local expert on romance novels. When he's particularly frustrated, she likes to lay his head in her lap and have him talk through his ideas. They're both such sentimental, touchy-feely binches that this is probably the norm even before they get into a relationship

And finally, because of some unfortunate circumstances during a camping trip in the past, Kaibara is terrified of thunderstorms -- to the point where she'll practically freeze up if she's outside when its thundering. I think Elliott would notice and ask about it, and she would be a little embarrassed, but she would tell him. From then on, not only does he keep her in mind and look out for her when taking note of that kind of weather, but the first time a really big storm happens he books it from the beach to her house without even thinking, to make sure she's doing okay 🥺

Consequently this is probably when he stays the night and discovers the bonnet (tm) 😌
