Ever seen a hedgehog stretch?

Mumbo Jumbo broke his leg. This isn’t a money post or anything, I can take care of any costs. Just send some love Mumbo’s way. He’s such a great cat. He broke it while running from my Uncle’s pit bull. (The dog did not break his leg, Mumbo jumped from a high spot while running. Also, I don’t blame the dog. He’s usually a sweetheart and I know he just wanted to play. I blame my stupid drunk Uncle for not locking him in his fence properly.) Luckily I never let Mumbo out unsupervised and the chase lasted barely ten seconds. We found Mumbo under my dad’s car hiding. He was hissing and growling and his fur was poofier than I’ve ever seen. I sat with him and let him hide until he calmed down. Sadly, when he stood up, he was limping. I honestly cried when I saw the limp. But Mumbo is such a sweet cat, he limped to me and let me pick him up. My neighbor was kind enough to drive us to the vet straight away. He was actually happy during the car ride and was walking around (not on his injured leg of course) and staring out the window. He was still scared until I petted him and he immediately let me pet him and kiss him. I cried again from happiness because I knew Mumbo loved and trusted me not to hurt him. The vets wouldn’t take him, despite me calling ahead and letting them know we were coming, until I paid $120. They also wouldn’t take my dad’s card because he wasn’t there with me. So Mumbo sat in the car for a few more minutes while my mom left work (her boss was kind enough to let her leave early because of this) and she had to pay. I spied through the window while the vet talked to my mom, because only one person was allowed in because of covid. The vet held up a picture of the x ray and I almost cried again. It’s pretty bad. They gave him some pain meds and tried to put a splint on him, but the little bastard tore it off. They tried a cone and splint, but he tore it off again. They don’t do casts, so they sent us home with him and now I have a broken cat that needs to go to another vet in the morning. He’s kind loopy at the moment, we put him in a cage with a litter box and blanket and he decided to sleep in the litter box. He keeps pawing at the litter like a quiet kid in a sand box. This is pretty rambley, but I wanted to get out everything that was going on. This is more for my benefit than anyone reading this. I’ll post an update soon.

Mumbo’s refusing to eat. At first he just didn’t want his kibble, then he stopped eating wet food, and now he won’t eat any meat we’re giving him. He ignores anything we try to give him. This also means he won’t eat his pain meds.

The vets say the problem is his personality and their gonna keep him for a week to watch him.

My baby is coming home tomorrow!
