friendly reminder that this:
is:
A. Not funny
and
B. Literally kills people.
and no, iโm not joking or exaggerating. at all. it is actually killing people. KIDS, may i add, whom these ads are targeting.
their names were sewell setzer lll and adam raine, by the way. and they were real people who are now dead because of ai. but theyโre not the only ones, there is literally an entire wikipedia article dedicated to these deaths:
and this is the full list, which iโm sure is sadly incomplete:
read their names. remember them.
they could have been killed by a chatbot you are talking to right now.
this isnโt funny, this isnโt cute, and we need to get these ads targeting children using things like whisper memes, seemingly innocuous imagery and popular franchises that children like (the amazing digital circus, ace attorney, murder drones, one piece and deltarune are just a few iโve seen them advertise with), and glorifying these parasocial and mentally corrosive โrelationshipsโ on this platform. i know iโm not the only one whoโs seeing these ads. something has to be done before that list gets one name longer because a curious kid was enticed by one of them.
