Colt Phillips was raised on his familyâs farm, which had been in their family for several generations. He grew up liking caring for the animals, but despite his father teaching him how to run a farm, he found he had little interest in doing so. That did not sit well with his father, who would remind him just how important the farm was and just how long it had been in their family. But Colt tuned all of that out, and when he was eighteen, he chose to leave the farm for good. His father fumed and told him he would no longer be welcome if he ever tried to come back, but again Colt did not listen, packing up and leaving with barely a good-bye.
He headed for the closest city, and soon became swept up in the whirl of a bustling metropolis. He got a job as a busboy in a restaurant and made friends with a group who loved the nightlife and were always out carousing. Colt was soon joining them on a regular basis, which unfortunately led to him learning that too much partying and not enough diligence to his work did not mix. After too many times coming in late to work after a long night, he was fired from the restaurant. Trying to find a new job proved tough, and when he tried to stop staying out too late in order to find one, his so-called âfriendsâ cut ties with him. Before long, his money ran out, and Colt had no choice but to give up the city and head back home.
If he had been expecting a warm welcome for the prodigal son, he did not get one. Colt returned to find things at the farm in a dire situation. His father had been attempting to carry on alone after he left, but had injured himself working on some of the machinery and could no longer run the farm. That had led to him making a deal with an avaricious neighboring farm owner, who had given Mr. Phillips a loan but was charging him far too much interest. When Colt arrived home and heard about all this, he was angry, and pinned all the blame for the situation on the greedy farmer. When said man showed up at the Phillipsâ farm shortly thereafter, Colt confronted him and they got into a fight. The farmer did not take kindly to the assault, and as a result, he raised the interest on Mr. Phillipsâ loan so high there was no way they would ever be able to repay it, effectively losing the family farm.
Seeing the pain in his fatherâs eyes afterward made Colt finally realize what he had done, and how in truth he had brought about the whole situation. Filled with shame and unable to face his family, he left home once again, this time for good. He had no desire to return to the city, so he found somewhere new, a town called Redwood Hollow. The first thing he did upon arriving was get a job working at the local repair shop, since he knew enough about fixing farm machinery to translate into fixing cars. And this time, Colt has sworn to be diligent and not slack off his work, hoping the different atmosphere of the town will help. But he still feels remorse for the pain and loss he caused his family, and even though he fears he can never see them again, he nevertheless wishes he could, if only to apologize.
WANTED CONNECTIONS

People he met during his time in the city -- If they were in his friend circle, though, they'd be bad news!
Someone who knew him from the farm -- There's a bunch of those!

Bar buddies -- He can have plenty of those!
WANTED PLOTS / PLOT IDEAS
Colt falls back into bad habits! He got in trouble in the city because he got carried away with partying. Someone could tempt him back into said bad habits, and he could be at risk of screwing up in Redwood Hollow the same way he did before.
Colt is great at hauling things! Of course, not everything goes well all the time, so he could have some catastrophe while attempting to haul something (especially something fragile). Your muse could be involved or just a witness to the epic failure and what may come out of it!
He definitely is stubborn and can be ornery, so Colt also definitely holds a grudge. But it would be great to see him have to cooperate with someone with whom he has a grudge. Maybe he might be able to finally put said grudge aside in order to get things done?
