My favourite comic of all time. By far. It has all the grand, and often wonderfully daft, conceits of the superhero genre, but that’s all used to deliver a surprisingly humane tale of despair and healing. After all this time, the way in which Brennert & Aparo play out those themes of ageing, loss & acceptance still moves me. Indeed, the older I get, the more the comic seems to have to say. Which is a rare thing, to say the least.
Plus, you know, it’s got a giant robot dinosaur too ...
