I figured I should create a blog dedicated to my aggravated Baldur's Gate 3 obsession (maybe for other interests as well but BG3 takes all the vacant space in my brain rn). I've only been a lurker online for the last 10yrs or so and never been in any fandom. I actually started to learn how to draw and write fanfic for BG3!!
My favorite characters are Astarion, Lae'zel, Gale and Minthara (though I love them all <3).

Ohhh, actually, I'd LOVE to know your thoughts on BG3 characters! And why you draw them the way you do, I notice some creature-esque similarities between gnomes and drow, and also elves (Ketheric had cat nose, but humans (Gortash and Orin) did not), and I assume that was intentional, but would love to know an in depth reasoning! Also, who is your favourite? Whose story do you find compelling? Are there any characters that were "love on first sight", are there those that grew on you?

Ah @unaarista! I am glad you are curious. :) I'm going to go bit by bit. I will be eventually making separate more in depth posts on the races and the characters if that would be ok. Reason for that being is that a single post is not practical for all of the headcanon info. I'm going to do a brief overview on your questions tho. c:

Why does Ketheric have a cat nose while Gort and Orin do not?
All of the elves and their relatives have "bit o' cat" in em. Observe.
Even in cases of half elves, vampiric elves and drow where there are less or more animal elements involved there is always something a bit catlike about them whether in behavior or appearance.
Half elves share the catlike noses of elves. They differ from them in ear shape and lack of tails tho.
Humans (yes including Gort, difficult to believe I know), dwarves and halflings all have human shaped noses even if they differ in other areas like halflings having rodent features and dwarves having mole like claws. Changelings like Orin also have human noses but something is usually "off" about them like size, width and length.
Gnomes and Elves/Drow? Why and how are they similiar?
The favorite? Most compelling story? "Love at first sight"?
Girl fitting all three of these, the universe is deeply unfair sometimes.
I can objectively say that Laezel and Shadowheart have the best narrative and story "game wise" since they are origin companions so the focus will be more on them, naturally. However I would be a fat fucking liar if I said I didn't find Minthara's story the most compelling. It has: an arrogant and obnoxious individual getting severely humbled, elements of fear and overcoming said fear, body (parasitic) horror, religious/eldritch horror and themes of belonging somewhere or to someone. Essentially things and tropes I usually gravitate towards so there's not much I can do here but resign myself to fate. Keep in mind that I got her first on a "goodish" run and am still in the middle of combing through all of her content on a "not so good" run. Gale and Lae are also in the picture because I initially really liked them too and it stayed that way, its just not as an extreme of a case. They are not pleased.
Other reasons why Minthara is a favorite is because she has a bunch of contradictory elements specifically being both courageous and fearful, cruel and soft, conniving and stupid. I can see why some would consider it bad writing but I think its more due to her upbringing being complete chaos to the point that she doesn't really know where to go or what to do sometimes. I really like the fact that she is kind of extremely pathetic and humorous in a way, more female characters should have wet cat aura. She is deep down a very ridiculous person, at least to me. <3
Characters that grew on you?
Shadowheart grew on me the most. I initially disliked her and found her boring but my god is she the little engine that could and did. Featuring the line that everyone and their grandma loves of course.
The gnome divorce boys and Wyll grew on me ingame.
Yes, I'm another "Wyll is kinda boring sorry guys person", but bear with me. Seeing his ideals kind of crumble during the Ansur fight made me genuinely want to try to find some way to save the dragon. It didn't work.
The gnomes grew on me because they have this entire situationship/divorce drama going on while you're wrangling three cults.
Halsin and the Dead Three grew on me moreso due to outside influence. Halsin because I found some way to make him more interesting and the dead three because of that ridiculous comic and drawing I did. Imagining the dead three as some kind of dysfunctional found family unit kills me.
This is Fern! I havenāt played much with her yet but sheās a Wild Heart Barbarian and a Beast Master Ranger (horrendous build but I want her to have a BIG WOLF) Wood Elf and a Laeāzel kisser.
I donāt like the result (idk why) (except the axe, which is fire) but sheās the very first character I drew when I started months ago and I wanted to see the progress! this was my best attempt at the time lol
Wulbren is trapped. The only thing protecting him is the thin Elfsong blanket over his head, morning light pouring through as he holds his breath, pretending to be asleep.

Coincoin Zinzin is the name of the Mad Duck mob in the French fan translation of Earthbound - Mother 2 (coincoin is the sound ducks make, zinzin is slang for crazy) I have a great passion for ducks and coincoin zinzin is really fun to say, it became one of my pseudonyms when I encountered him in the game. 2. Latest movie? What did you think?
I re-watched Some Like It Hot in theaters with my mom! Sheās a big Monroe fan and I love this movie.
3. What are you looking forward to right now?
A stay at my parentsā house with my partner and sisters next week! Their region is beautiful and they live near the ocean.
4. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
Iām both misinterpreting and overthinking this one. Like, anything? I have no idea, there are so many things that could be done. If weāre getting whimsical Iād like to visit towns in the Middle Ages and Antiquity, or the bottom of the ocean. If weāre talking about realistic though unlikely things, then Iād like to have a full, productive day without pain or fatigue, start a bunch of creative projects and learn sooo much shit.
5. Drink of choice?
Tea. Earl Grey is my favorite ā (I do love jasmine a lot, too). Followed by black coffee. I always always have a drink near me.
6. Hair routine?
Horrendous. I have a shampoo and conditioner that I grabbed in the store without much thought, I brush my hair daily; once in a blue moon Iāll use a mask thatās probably bad for my hair, and thatās about it. I wish I had a better routine but hair and skin care science is a rabbit-hole I am not willing to get into.
7. Favourite way to travel? Is there another you want to try?
I like trains, theyāre comfortable, fast to get in and out of, you can walk around and grab a little snack and coffee during the trip and I donāt get sick.Ā I'd like to go hot-air ballooning.
8. Favourite month and why?
I donāt have a favorite month. I like September because thatās the start of the school year (even though that stresses me out too), I like December because of Christmas and food and family etc. But my favorite season is Spring.Ā
9. Favourite time of day and why?
I feel immensely proud and serene if Iām up and doing things in the morning. I love mornings. Unfortunately I thrive at nighttime and sleep veeeeery late.
10. Do you play or follow any sports?
Not at all, and I never have. Iād like to do weights, and I should exercise much more for chronic pain management but that doesnāt qualify as āplaying sportsā, does it? Does playing sports imply fun? Ugh Iām already checking my every word on wordreference.com just to be sure and itās taking me way too long.
11. What kind of music has been stuck in your head lately?
Straight to Hell (live) - The Clash, which I listened to a lot today (theyāre my favorite band and forever will be).Ā
Also Lovefool by The Cardigans since a few days ago, for some reason, and it's a bit annoying.
12. Dishes or laundry?
Laundry. Iām bad at laundry because itās a two step chore and I forget about it in the meantime, but dishes are Sisyphean and touching things with wet fingers is not a sensory issue but a sensory archnemesis to me (thankfully I have a dishwasher).
13. Something you learned recently?
Zincās melting point is 786Ā°F.
14. What would you talk about if you could give a TED talk on anything?
Idk, something cinema related I suppose. Maybe sex scenes in movies, the importance of sex in art in general and the rise of puritanism in pop culture spaces. Or Historical accuracy in fiction, artistic licence and the repetition of tropes and aesthetics as simulacrums that get warped from one movie to another.
15. Piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot?
Better to do something imperfectly, even badly, than not at all (something that I struggle with a lot).
16. Piece of advice you would give yourself five years ago?
For the love of God, walk more and start exercising.
17. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any rituals?
No. I wish I did and I tried to for a time, hoping it could ease anxiety, but I just cannot. Iām fine with it though.
18. Are you musical (play any instruments, sing)? Would you ever perform for an audience?
No, not anymore. I used to play the drums when I was a kid, then guitar and bass, but I havenāt touched an instrument in more than a decade now. I have performed for an audience and I do not like it at all.
19. Write, type or speak?
Speak. I speak all the time when Iām comfortable, I only ever shut up if I go non-verbal from exhaustion. Though academically, Iām a lousy public speaker (I have some sort of reverse stage fright where I start feeling just fine and the more I speak, the more physically anxious I get, itās wild) but I thrive in written essays.
20. What do you wish someone would ask you?
