coupled with the idea of shane's conversation with rose when he talks about how hockey got less fun because it got more intense and so so did he: the idea of ilya dramatically flopping on his back on the ice one day at camp when they're done running drills with the kids

and he is teasingly refusing to get up because he is dead now, hollander, can you not see this, and shane hesitates for just a second, grabs his hand, plants one of his skates, and just sends him sliding off towards the side of the rink, thinking about how his dad used to do it to him after every single practice

shane as a teenager who still refuses to leave the ice after practice, but it's not for fun anymore. it's because he feels like he didn't do well today and needs to practice more, get faster, get better, get-dad, get OFF the ice. you're in the WAY.

Shane has an extremely dry sense of humor, and in public he’ll whisper deadpan commentary into Ilya’s ear while Ilya tries not to cry laughing.

Ilya has a very dark sense of humor that makes most people who hear it uncomfortable, but not Shane. Shane thinks it’s absolutely hilarious every time.

Ilya and Shane love to sit in the same room, do separate activities, and barely speak to each other. Shane will read a book while Ilya plays a video game, and one of them will have their feet in the other’s lap.

While everyone in the league thinks Ilya is a huge asshole, Shane thinks he’s hilarious. In fact, Shane usually agrees with Ilya’s chirps and will not defend anyone against them.

the fact that people think hudson’s acting was flat and wooden in heated rivalry is genuinely a testament to how well he portrayed shane

because that is who shane is. shane is barely holding it together bc all of his energy is being spent on managing to give a convincing portrayal of a Normal Guy. if he comes across as awkward and stilted and socially inept that’s because he’s an awkward stilted autistic guy who never got the hang of Participating the way that neurotypical people who grew up outside of the pro hockey pressure cooker did
