That would be incredible.  I mean, I have little doubt that they would be great. I think that those are the best kind of career choices. When something is more of a passion that just something to earn money, I like to think we end up much happier than not.  I think your brothers are happy as long as you’re happy and they can’t help but impressed even if they give you a hard time and try and hide it. Siblings are always going to be just like that.  You can live a happy life without a bunch of money. It’s always nice when you have money that you can use to make your dreams come true though. With the right money manager you could probably turn a little money into a lot with interest.  I have no doubt that whatever you do, it’ll be the right move for you.

I mean right now my career choices have been whatever I can do that isn’t too annoying but brings money. Hopefully one day it really changes, but only time will tell. What do you do? Sorry I’ve only talked about myself, I must sound so self-centered. I don’t know about my brothers, like sure they won’t tell me I’ve disappointed them, but still like, I don’t want to fail and have them pity me or something. Oh definitely, I mean we’re not like, rich, and the money I have aside is still not a lot, but it’s good enough for when I’ll need it. I just feel weird having it like that and when it’s going to be gone I’ll be really stressed I would have wasted it. But thank you for being so hopeful for me. That’s very sweet of you.

Not yet! I’m still discovering the places in town although I already know some of them cause my brother has been living here for a few years. Oh no I’m sure you deserve all the love and the compliments. But you’re right though, I don’t need an excuse for a cake. What’s your favorite one to bake?

Where do you come from? How are you liking Merrock so far? Don’t hesitate if you need anything, I’ve been here my whole life so I like to think I know the place pretty well. My favorite is definitely a blueberry pie, but that’s because my family has a blueberry farm so I kind of had to.

Then count me in! I’m down for some good cookie recommendations. I’m not too picky. I do love chocolate, though. Nuts are fine, too. What do people request the most?

Are they fine or are they great? Because my chocolate walnut cookies are pretty good, but I also do white and black chocolate cookies if you’re more into those. Those who don’t know what to order usually get like, fancy cakes, but people who know my baking a little know that my pies are the best. 

Only the one clean spoon? But what if my food needs two spoons? Or a fork? There’s too many things that I could need in these circumstances, honestly, I’m gonna need more utensils. I don’t mind the ugly ones, as long as they taste the same. Top two? You know Cage and I aren’t going to settle for some sort of shared role like that, we need a distinct rating.

I’m super generous so I’ll have three spoons and one fork, let’s not get too crazy, I can’t give you a knife too. That’s all you get. They taste basically the same, nothing I make is poisonous. At least nothing I’ve made so far, life will only prove me right or wrong. There’s my favorite one, and then my least favorite one. You can fight for the title. I don’t care you decide. I know I’m the favorite sister and that’s all that matters.

I do have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I’m not very picky when it comes to any baked goods. But your apple and peach pies are two of my favorites. It’s for the high school. We’re putting on a production of Beauty & the Beast. Feel free to get as creative as you’d like with it. Of course! With all the students in my classes and my regular drama club crowd after school, I have plenty of helpers to pass them out for you. 

Well if I try something a little weird I’ll make sure to send it your way if you’re really not picky about sweet stuff. I mean depends how adventurous you’re willing to be. So for high school I can get a little creative and do something Beauty & the Beast themed, I can also have some allergy friendly options if that’s something you’d want. If you have extra tickets I’m also totally going to come and see the show, it sounds like fun. 

You’re probably right, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if you weren’t showing up unannounced and asking what’s for dinner, or if Colton wanted to go out and play. At least that’s what I imagine you want whenever you come over. Yeah, I did. I don’t know where he gets it from, but he’s definitely the best damn thing in the world, and absolutely the best of all of us. Oh, you did just tell me that, and now I’ll remember what to keep an eye out the next time that you volunteer to hang out with him for a night, brat! I gotta be, once you become a dad, you either learn how to cook a good dinner or rely a little too much on McDonald’s, and the latter just didn’t seem that appealing to me all the time. I don’t think he minds. He might tease you about it and roll his eyes, but how many times does he walk in on you baking and ends up walking away with a free snack because of it…? I might even be a little bit jealous, not going to lie. For real, yeah, I’d do that for you. I’ll be the embarrassing big brother who passes them out to everyone I know, too. Kind of, okay, don’t get excited. It’s… complicated. I think I could be happy, eventually, maybe, right now it’s this messy thing where I don’t think either of us really know what we’re doing? You can try to guess… but I guarantee you it doesn’t take much thought.

I’m just saying, if you need Colton out of the house, or if you want me to babysit, I’m your girl. You’re not allowed to have anyone else babysit, I’d be so mad. He can’t prefer another babysitter over me. That would just break my heart. Oh I totally never come over because there’s nothing to eat at home, never in the world would I do that. Totally not my style. Oh he’s my favorite, but it’s okay, you’re like, in my top three. I rely a little too much on McDonald’s and I’m not a dad, so I’m not sure what that means. Oh all the time, I like to think I’m a really cool aunt because he gets to bring cupcakes whenever he asks me at school and I could never say no to him. You can also have all the free snacks, you know that. But he gets first pick, that’s all. I mean I hope you can be happy just as is, not eventually and not depending on someone else, but I know what you mean. Do you know what you’re doing a little more? I’m worried of guessing wrong, but my only guess has to be Cordelia, and if not oops? But if it is, I’m happy for you. Actually, I’m happy for you even if it’s not.

And, this is why you’ll always have my heart and be my favorite no matter who is in my life. How can I not love my best friend when she’s willing to feed me? Don’t tell Elise that, since she feeds me too, but I figure she does meals and sweets, you’re sweets, it’s a fair balance. You could probably ask Elise to give you some tips, she loves talking about cooking so I can’t see her not willing to help. Just tell me when and I’ll talk to Syl and we’ll get you all hot and a total babe – that is not me saying you’re not hot and a babe, you are, but you know what I mean! Damn right, I’m the smartest person, let’s roll with that. Sounds so much better than worst influence! Uh, yes I do, friends support friends and buy from them. Now if you want to slip me things from time to time, I won’t say no, but I will also buy! 

Your favorite? I’ll remind you that when you’re rich and famous and I’ll be there like, that’s my best friend look at her kick ass. You know me, always have a full fridge ready whenever you come over. We’re overdue for a girls night. Let’s do it soon because I’m in need of V & C time. I will not tell Elise, but I also want Elise to feed me because her food is the best. You get both dinner and dessert, I think you’re lucky. You know I love my brothers and I wouldn’t want them to go anywhere, but I was definitely always a little jealous growing up that you had a big sister and I didn’t. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen, but hey, we can play dress up one of those days. You’re not at all worst influence, stop it!

“I didn’t think I’d ever find myself taking a class on how to make floral wreaths, but, you know, I’m actually kind of looking forward to this.” Thea had never really been crafty, not in this sense anyways. She could keep house plants alive, was more than capable of gardening - and enjoying it - and basically any sort of craft or art that required being outdoors, but, crafting in this fashion wasn’t something she ever saw herself being interested in. Maybe it was the fact she was combining something she loved into a new hobby that made her excited, but, either way she couldn’t wait to get started. “Have you ever made these kind of things before or are you just here to see what the fuss is about?”

I think that it is great. I mean, I have no doubt that everything that you bake is delectable. I think that everyone deserves to have a hobby and if you can make money off it, all the better. I think that your family would support any dream you might have. I mean, opening your own bakery or even restaurant would be something special, The saving account rates aren’t perfect but just keep putting money aside a you can definitely make it happen. You can also take some classes in your down  time to try and learn new skills. Plus maybe some business classes just so no one can take advantage of you. I’ll definitely give you a call if I need cake.

I’ll happy let you tastes some. Hopefully they are as good as you think they are. It’s been kind of past the state of hobby for a while at this point, but I do really love it, and if I can make do something I love for work, maybe that’d be grand. Oh they would, I’m not too worried about my family, although I would hate to fail and see them sad about it, and like, I don’t know they’re my cool older brothers, I want them to be impressed with what I do. I also have some money saved up from my dad’s inheritance, it’s not a whole lot, but it’s a good base. I just don’t want to waste it. Like when I use it, I want to make sure it works out. Business classes are definitely a smart idea!

This was the kind of thing that Cage loved – an entire weekend dedicated to being outdoors; fishing, hiking, cooking on the grill with Colton, he loved camping. Work was stressful, being a parent was stressful, life was stressful and taking a few days off from all of that to go out into the woods wasn’t going to hurt anyone. Glancing up as he heard the sound of snapping twigs, he saw a figure approaching as he stood at the edge of the lake, game planning his day, trying to decide between hiking, grabbing his fishing things, or just stringing up the hammock and taking a long nap. “Good weather for this kind of adventure, huh?”

Being outdoors was always something Clementine looked forward to. She was far from being unfamiliar with camping, and it was so much fun to get to see everyone out and ready for a weekend out. So when she noticed her older brother she quickly made her way to him to say hi. “I think it’s the best kind.” She replied, hands on her hips as she took a look around. “Anything fun you have planned for the day?”

Does this mean that you are going to share your baked goods? Because I will happily taste test anything you’ve got. Do you have a favorite or a recommendation out there? Because now I’ve been craving something sweet for some time now and I wanna try something new. So kudos to you for getting on that!

I’ve already been sharing them, and if you’re on the camping trip I have with me! So you might get lucky and get a cookie or a cupcake before they’re all gone. Is there anything you like? Recommendations are easier when I know what people prefer! 

in all honestly, adeline wasn’t so sure that so many people would be out camping when the topic of the weekend was brought up to her. it was something she’s only done a time or two growing up and, foolishly, assumed it was more popular in movies or books.. so she didn’t quite understand how it was so packed that she just barely found a spot for her and maryam’s rv surrounded by other tents, rvs, and campers. she unfortunately didn’t make enough soup to go around to everyone, so hopefully word doesn’t spread too fast around the camp grounds if she offers some to her neighbors. 

the first person she sets her sights on when she’s exiting the rv, she musters up the courage to call out and stop them with a “hey!”, her hand holding out a ceramic camper mug full of soup, the other hanging by her side with a bottle of liquor in it’s grasp. “so, i brought soup.. and i also brought vodka. these are camping essentials, right? i’m gonna be completely honest, i googled ‘what to bring camping’, and i knew everyone else would be bringing supplies to make s’mores so i went with number two and three instead; soup and alcohol.” she raises both hands, one after the other, to motion to each item when she offers, “want any?”

whenever she could, clementine enjoyed being able to go out of merrock. the young woman was so excited when she had heard about the camping trip and had immediately been on board. she could not remember the last time she had gone, so she had maybe over-prepped a little, and for clem that meant baking way too much to make new friends by giving out cookies and cupcakes around.

An exasperated sigh fell from Kaden’s lips as he begrudgingly pulled out his ID to show the bartender. Finger tips drummed on the surface as he eagerly awaited for the drink he ordered for. “Honest question,” he started, putting his ID away once it passed inspection. “Think I’ll ever see the day where I won’t be carded anytime I want a drink?”

“Listen, I ask myself the same question all the time. But then the one time I wasn’t asked for my ID I got really offended, so I’d rather be carded for a little while longer. Pretend I’m still young enough.” Clementine chuckled before bringing her glass to her lips. “You need to see it positively. It’s much nicer that way.”

Now I’m just wondering why I haven’t gone to Cobblestone Cafe yet cause that sounds like Heaven on Earth. You are like the local angel making people happy with sugar so for that, you deserve to reach that dream of yours! I’ll make sure to order a cake whenever I need one – actually my birthday was a month ago but I guess I could pretend it wasn’t just to get the perfect excuse for a homemade cake, right?

You haven’t? You definitely need to come back one of those days. I’m biased, but I really like it here, I think it’s a great place to just relax and read a book or even get some work done or have a chat with friends. I think you’re giving me much more credits than I deserve. You don’t ever need an excuse for a cake, at least that’s my opinion.

At least you can be somewhat comforted in the knowledge that you’re not alone in being that way, right? Something about there being safety in numbers, and we’re all thinking the same way, basically. Are you the one doing the snow dances immediately once it starts getting cold out? And then running outside to throw snowballs and build a snowman the second that it falls? Yeah! I’m not much of an alcohol guy, so I always prefer the cold coffee or fruit drinks. Iced matcha’s an excellent choice.

You’re right, it’s one way to see things, but I like the positive take on it rather than see it as humanity being doomed or something along those lines. Even if that means I’m not that special, but it’s always too good to be too special all the time. Being different just for the fun of it isn’t that unique. I don’t know if I do snow dances, but I do like to get out my favorite sweater and enjoy hot beverages. What’s your go to order during the summer? 

For someone who has lived in Merrock for the last five years, you’d think a grown man would be more prepared for the up and down weather changes that Maine brings. Which means brings me the worst allergy season every single year. Do I get ahead of the curve, stock up, make sure I have my endless supply of nasal sprays, decongestant medication, tissues, and ice packs – yes they do wonders for the sinus headaches – nope, I do not. I wait until I get into that uncomfortable state of sounding like a giant whistle while I breathe before I scramble to the local drug store hoping everything works like magic and kicks in after five minutes. Surprise – it doesn’t! So now I’m going to go stock up on the usual things and think this calls on a splurge of a few new teas and specialized honey as well as a few books. Needless to say is anyone feeling the allergy season, think it’s just the up and down weather, or just a me thing? 

I’ve lived here my whole life and believe me, I don’t think I will ever get used to the weather changes. Like I’m good with the rain, the snow, really anything, but when it just goes from one to another it’s not that fun. Luckily, I apparently don’t have it that bad when you put it that way with your allergies. Hopefully they don’t get too bad this year.
