personality: Didi is not the kind of person who commands attention in the room. She’s the kind of person who is content to quietly get the job done. She truly cares about people and is the kind of person who would gladly do without if it meant someone else didn’t have to suffer from a lack of something. She goes above and beyond to try and bring joy to the people around her whether they be patients, friends or just people in passing. She is the kind of person to offer a stranger a smile or a compliment just to try and brighten their day.  She can be a bit regimented. She isn’t the most impulsive or adventurous person in the room. That isn’t to say that she doesn’t live her life but she tends to be a bit more calculated and thoughtful about the decisions she makes. There are certainly times when that comes to haunt her when she hesitates and misses opportunities in front of her. She generally tries to make the most of every situation.
BACKGROUND / BIO
Didi had a fairly typical, albeit sheltered upbringing. Born in Burlington Vermont, she was one of many children born to Joel and Tammy Alexander. Joel met Tammy shortly after going to seminary and the two married young, having a ton of children. Â Joel landed a position as pastor at a small church and Tammy devoted her life to their home and the raising of their children to truly care of the people in their community and world.
Didi was homeschooled from a young age.  The decision was less about being anti-public school and more about keeping the family tight knit. Without the traditional school regimes, the family was allowed to travel to do missionary work and getting involved in the local charities.  Due to the large amount of siblings, there wasn’t a lot of privacy to be found in the home. Didi shared a room with her sisters until she left for university.
While her father’s meager pastor salary can only stretch so far, Didi and her siblings were always encouraged to pursue higher learning after their home school graduations in other to pursue their passions.  For Didi, that passion was helping others.  Greatly impacted by the lack of decent healthcare available for children on one of the family missionary trips, she decided to nursing.  She did exceptionally well in her applications and testing so she landed a full-ride to the University of Vermont.
University was life changing for her. She had her first taste of freedom and getting to experience life outside her family home.  She was incredibly focused on her studies and quietly driven to excel. She still managed to form bonds with roommates, peers and date a person or two. She never really got into anything incredible serious though and her upbringing always kept her more conservative in her choices than a lot of her peers.  It wasn’t anything against their choices, she’s always just wanted more for herself.
After graduation, she went to teaching hospital to take on as much experience as she through her apprenticeship at a teaching hospital. She ultimately found her passion for pediatric nursing. Â Darcy recently moved to town after receiving a job offer at the local hospital. Â She is a pediatric nurse. She has her own place but she can frequently be found at the home of an elderly grandfather who is still living in town.
