Wanna watch a movie while lying down, maybe putting your laptop next to you on the bed? LOL NOPE

Using headphones and suffering pain from hell for the constant pressure they put on your glasses rods that consequently try to get engulfed in your head

Dark circles and nose pads marks

Still complaining that you can’t see shit, even with your glasses on

That weird moment when you wake up and you have to feel your nightstand in order to find your glasses so that you can function like a human being

“Wait I can’t hear you I don’t have my glasses on“ *puts on glasses* “Ok, go on“

It basically turned into an essay: advance with caution.

The live experience

I think we all know how powerful the live experience of Skam is. We’re fed throughout the week, becoming Skam-addicts and suddenly, without knowing how it happened, we’re in the mains’ head, feeling their emotions as if they were our own (and imo, they probably are).

We get it, but do we actually realise why that is?

To be honest, I had never thought about what it was that connected the viewers to the mains so much before. The story in itself plays a huge part in it, of course, but still, I have watched many TV shows with great storylines where I’ve fallen in love with the characters but never to the extent I’ve fallen for Skam characters, and especially the ones I’ve followed the stories live.

(And let’s be real here, how many of us thought that Skam ruined us for other TV-shows?)

Don’t you remember watching a Skam reactor or talking about the show with a friend who only watches the episode and thinking to yourself: “why don’t they get it? Why aren’t they freaking out like I did when that specific clip dropped?”

This is not to say that they won’t feel emotions by watching it, of course they do, but I truly believe it’s not with the same intensity and it’s all because they don’t live the in-between clips moments, they don’t experience the freak outs over new social media updates, they don’t experience the torturous wait and everything that us who do follow the show daily go through.

I think we get so much into the characters’ head because of the use of time. I know, it sounds kind of obvious, but is it really?

We know that the Skam format plays with time to tells its story. It’s not a secret, we all know how it works: a clip drops, we freak out, we watch it, we feel something right of the bat and then we stay with that specific emotion, a lot of questions and our over-analysing thoughts for who the fuck knows how long.

Sometimes it’s only a few hours. Sometimes it’s a day. Sometimes it’s an entire weekend. Sometimes it’s even longer than that. Bottom line is : we never know when we will have to run away from our personal lives and hide in the toilet to watch a clip.

It’s as glorious as it is pure torture.

get some motherfucking perspective, please. i am begging you. this woman has a sizeable conservative fanbase in the rural south. she just used her platform to put over a dozen of the most influential queer people in the fucking world in front of that audience. in support of legislatiom to end legal discrimination against us.
