Honestly, every single cheating plotline never made sense because “but why do you have to have sex with them? just don’t??”

…do you have any idea how hard it is to do literary criticism that will get published when your reaction to at least 75% of character motivations is this makes no sense whatsoever why do they even care? 

I have literally experienced all of these.

the first time i saw this post it was honestly such a huge relief or so affirming or something. a lot of asexual people talk about feeling kinda weird or ‘broken’ or whatever, like realising some kind of ‘otherness’, but i honestly thought everyone was like me and just lying/exaggerating until i realised that asexuality is a thing and, no, they were not actually making up their sexual attraction, whoops

Confirming this. You know how long it took me to realise it wasn’t just a social thing to find strangers hot and truly want to sleep with them based entirely on that most ellusive of things:”sex appeal”? Thirty years. I spent *thirty years* thinking it was just a thing people said. A deliberate, socially-accepted exaggeration. I spent about 25 of those years taking a “huh they are kinda pretty looking” and amping it up to meet the social expectations of everyone around me.

Woooow this is so relatable. I spent 34 years thinking I was broken because I just didn’t *FEEL* anything other than crushes. I never understood.

Also to add- I mistook sexual attraction for an intense desire to emotionally, physically and platonically connect with people and then I actually felt it for one (1) person- how to realise that you’re demi 101
