I'd been forewarned that I'd have to buy a car, yes -- a first for me, but not an unwelcome one, since public transit was getting to be a little much anyway. I have a feeling I'll need to bounce back and forth between the two for a while, but I do like having the option now when I didn't before -- finding the balance might just take a little time, I think.

Sorry for the late reply to this - did you end up getting a car? If not, I'd be happy to join you in the car shopping initiative. Balance always takes awhile, but I'm sure you'll get it in no time - if you haven't already.

The Man Who Can't be Moved - The script

So...fun fact - apparently when rental agreements don't specify what types of pets you can have, people decide chickens are a great option for pets. I have no idea what the landlords were thinking when they didn't specify 'cats and dogs' - which is the typical option - but now I get to enjoy being woken up just before dawn by my neighbor's rooster. I understand that it's economically better to have chickens if you eat a lot of eggs or something, but like...come on man. As if that wasn't enough, they don't even have them penned in or anything. I think they're in the process of building a coop, but until then they just wander. The other day, I walked out onto my back porch and found a hen just sitting on my furniture. Grenada had some wildlife that loved to come close but...yeah, I don't know. The only thing I do know is that apparently my life of sleeping until at least 7 is gone.

Are your yards interconnected? That's a bit of a liability, let alone a health hazard that they're just letting the chickens roam like that. I'm sorry that your landlord didn't specify, and that you've got odd neighbours.

Sad news I just learned today, the borough apparently isn't putting on the big Halloween bash at town hall this year. Something about they decided to use the space for games and stuff for the kids during trick or treating time? I don't know, I mean great for the kids, sure. But no Halloween fun for the adults? Anyway against my better judgement, I've decided this is my sign to throw my own Halloween party and I'm looking into venues. It'll be BYOB and probably pot luck to keep things cheaper on my end, though I'll make sure to have non-alcoholic beverages available and maybe even order some pizzas. Also instead of just doing it on Halloween night, it's gonna be the Saturday before Halloween, so if you know where I can host it, let me know. Also I'll probably take commissions again this year, figured making costumes will help me fund this thing.

Caleb! There's a whole world of theme selections to pick! Your blog is basically a canvas. Like, okay, you know how when we grew up, we decorated our rooms with posters and magazine cutouts, things like that? You can do that with your blog! The painting is much cleaner online than in real life. I got more paint on me than on my walls. I did! I found a couple vases and an old lamp. I need to clean and do minor repairs, but they'll be as good as new ones once I'm finished. Mr. Thumus is on the hunt! That kitty is a cutie. Did you get the name from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?

I figured as much, but considering I am redoing my house right now, doing a blog is a bit of effort. Hadley was touched by Caleb's offer, but hesitated. "That's really generous, but I'm not sure. I don't have the proper setup at home for a fish," she admitted, glancing at the goldfish. "I don’t want to win one and not be able to take care of it." She paused, then said, "Maybe we can just try a few rounds, and if we do win, are you open to becoming a fish dad? I can show you all the stuff you'd need to get, it's mostly about the right size aquarium and proper filtration system and food." She handed a couple dollars of her own to the vendor and picked up a ping pong ball, aiming carefully before tossing it. It missed, and she laughed. "It’s harder than it looks. Your turn to try." Handing him a ping pong ball, she added, "Thanks for listening and not thinking I'm just a crazy person rambling about fish care., by the way"

Caleb hadn’t really put much thought into what he would do after he got the fish, he just wanted to help them considering they were floating aimlessly in clear bags. “I was just gonna hand them out to some kids if we pass them and keep whatever ones I don’t give out, so, if you want to help me set up a goldfish retreat for all of the fish we are no doubt gonna get, then by all means we can add that to my ever-growing list of things.” Caleb said with a chuckle, watching as Hadley stepped up to the plate and threw a ping-pong ball at the target.

Hadley popped a piece of cotton candy as she glanced over some of the games the carnival had to offer, her eyes settling on one in particular. "Ugh, I feel like I always have to try and play this game, purely to save at least one goldfish. I mean, they're never taken well care of, it's why so many die so soon after you get them home from winning them, it's practically animal cruelty to have them here as prizes, but no one ever stops to think about how much care actually goes into owning a fish, because they think it's just an easy starter pet, but they're really not." Her eyes looked back up at the person next to her, feeling guilty about all of her rambling. "I'm sorry, I totally sound like such a Debbie Downer and this is supposed to be a fun time, is there any specific game you wanted to play?"

Caleb hadn't exactly planned on going to the carnival, considering he had so much left to do on his place, but a little break wouldn't hurt anyone. The brunette stopped at the game stand, frowning at the bags of fish. The brunette speaking next to him had a point. "No need to apologize when you're right." He replied, running a hand through his curls before pulling out his wallet. He had $200 bucks, that should win them a few fish, right? "I've got a bit in my wallet here, you wanna try and save the fish?"

Yay! I'm not alone! It's neat, isn't it? I made my blog pink and want to figure out how to add cute icons. It's like what I kind of remember with Myspace except there's no top 8. Remember how stressful that was?? I leave for work in a couple minutes though my weekend was just perfect. I slept in, went antiquing, and worked on some flower arrangements. Peaceful and relaxing, which is my favorite way to spend weekends. Yes! I want to see the kitty. I don't have pets yet. I take care of a couple strays who visit my backyard for dinner.

I don't really know what to do with mine, so I jsut chose a theme. I also remember putting music on my Myspace page, peopl ehated it, it was great. Did you buy anything when you went antiquing? I've only done it once and it smelled musty. Here's Mr. Thumus in action during the fall.

I too am new to tumblr, it's a pretty weird experience. I'm doing well though, just prepping for the week ahead. How about yourself? I don't have a pet, but my nextdoor neighbour has a cat that likes to visit, I can send you a picture of that? What are you up to on this fine evening?

Hypothetically speaking, if someone who's never lived more than a half hour bus ride from a major metropolitan area had decided on relocating to small town Pennsylvania for the relative peace and quiet -- what would they need to know? Pros, cons, possible pitfalls? Proximity to Philadelphia is already a perk, and regular trips to New York probably necessary, but how much of a culture shock are we talking here? Inquiring minds want to know...

The transit is definitely not to the same calibre as a major metropolitan area, so I hope that's not something you were relying on. Pros - it's quiet, relatively calm, not a huge crime rate, and you can walk to just about anything. Cons - it's small, and some people just aren't cut out for a small town. The fact that you moved from a big place for peace and quiet - I think you'll do just fine.
