SIXTH TIME. SIXTH. time trying to make this post. thank you tumblr.
iâve gotten a fair few new followers recently, so i wanted to tell everyone once again that my best friend @plaidos has a twitch channel, and when she gets another 152 followers to hit 1k total, sheâs going to play undertale AND deltarune. sheâs played undertale before, but itâs been a hot minute, and then sheâs going mostly blind into deltarune. [tenna voice] but thatâs! not! all! weâre going to be voice acting the entirety of both games as a team. that means a BLIND playthrough of deltarune, fully voice acted and experienced LIVE, together. if that interests you, please please please drop Roxanne a follow đ
we are SO close to her goal! following is totally free and only takes a second đЎ
Scientists have discovered there are only two universes: the normal one, and âthe cringe AU.â
All scientists willing to reveal which one we live in have been killed by the CIA.

hello doctor homestuck. how might blood powers manifest physically? i can get my head around what the aspect represents but i don't know what it would actually look like. something i've wondered for a while along with some other aspects like doom and rage
as far as i can tell there is very little information on this in part because we donât know any god tiers who are blood players. in the case of Karkat, for example, it may truly be as simple as âarbitrarily good at being a leader despite all oddsâ.
ok i'm coming back to this after reading the first act of Beyond Canon -- in 8r8k, Karkat appears to use his knight of blood abilities to buff his army in some way. i would imagine empowering them to fight hardier, be more resillient in battle etc through either literally giving them a stat up or just yknow through emboldening/uplifting their spirits. again -- the actual Blood "powers" have been used relatively few times. it's pretty obvious that Karkat's position as the head of the troll revolution is a direct reflection of him being a knight of blood, so we can extrapolate a lot of the passive qualities of a blood player, but again, very few actual examples of blood powers being used across the comic(s) and even less examples (let's say, zero) of them being used by somebody who isn't a knight
iâm working on answering a couple of homestuck asks that will necessarily take a long time / many examples to explain BUT !!! in the mean time, feel free to send me more of your questions n musings on whichever and whatever homestuck subjects you need help with ⌠think of me as like a homework helper or some shit
so glad that homestuck has slurs again. thank you beyond canon
Clothes & presentation hold a huge amount of symbolism in Beyond Canon

and then they did that.
look dgmw i understand why transfems who projected onto Roxy Lalonde felt hurt when the direction Homestuck took him in was decidedly male in the end, but when people say âthere is no basis for transmasc Roxy in Homestuck 1â thatâs where i have to say, sorry, but that isnât true.
dude literally metaphorically gives up his motherhood to (a since confirmed to be transfem) Kanaya
and elects to take the path of his brotherâs sword instead
and yknow i think the symbolism of swords is pretty clear in Homestuck.
that said, girls, if you want a transfeminine Strilonde to project onto, look no further. in his first full appearance, Dave literally bisects his insufferable prick.
and he finds himself unable to retrieve or wield his legendary swords at all without first doing the same to them
the pre-broken version of this sword eventually returns late in Homestuck act 6, as a weapon embued with Lord English's only weakness, a cueball -- which Dave immediately interprets as an "egg"
so to be clear: Dave is specifically positioned as able to defeat Lord English -- toxic masculinity incarnate -- through the power of autocastration-to-be/egginess.
Speaking of eggs, here's what Andrew has to say about Dave retrieving his artefact (an egg):
All of the entry items represent certain challenges or themes. Dave's involves waiting for a ridiculously inaccessible and stubbornly guarded egg to hatch, which is a challenge that relates to patience. What does this "mean"? You, the studious reader, will have to crunch the numbers on that.
my unpopular homestuck opinion is that mspar should come back and be important in homestuck beyond canon
1. nobody wants to talk this, but at some point weâre gonna have to discuss the fact that Meat!Calliope has canonically detransitioned, not just like changed their pronouns: they have retracted their identity and returned to what is considered the default in cherub culture. Calliope was transfem in Homestuck, The Dead Cherub is very much still transfem coded (sheâs even waxing poetic about how comfortable she is in Jadeâs body)
2. at some point off screen, Candy!Callie ALSO starts using they/them pronouns (even though they were always âsheâ in the Epilogues, and Meat!Callieâs detransition is wrapped up in Roxyâs transition) and all of the characters (including John, who canonically doesnât even know what being trans is) just magically swap to using they/them pronouns with being told diegetically?
So like, what gives? What the fuck? I feel like itâs pretty significant that one of our core transfem characters was quietly un-transfemmed overnight. Iâm not even sure itâs intentional or if the team just⌠forgot?
I do believe meat!Calliope putting away the Human Womanhoodâ˘ď¸ theyâd previously identified with was intended to be a detransition - out of all the gender plotlines I canât imagine what else the tag in the Epilogues meant to refer to - but it is certainly strange to realize that candy!Calliope is also heading down that route, without any commentary on the subject in-universe. Makes me want to do a reread just to see where the pronoun switch occurs, and makes me wonder if meat!Calliope (who we see âwritingâ candy) is actually influencing this change occurring to their other self.
Interestingly, during the Homestuck Official Discordâs readthrough, the HSO mods split the content warnings into two halfs and included âdetransitionâ on Candy but NOT on Meat â presumably in reference to Candy!Roxy being a conscious repper.
Iâm still pretty sure this is a mistake of the read-throughâs framing (probably coming from people not creatively involved with Homestuck or at least not involved with the Epilogues) rather than an actual confirmation that thatâs what itâs supposed to mean â because, yknow, only one character actually detransitions in The Homestuck Epilogues, and itâs Calliope. It seems pretty blatantly framed that way to me even:
Callie isn't personally offended by being called a girl -- they just don't consider it literally correct. The way they describe "being a girl" makes it seem like it was an identity they chose & performed rather than what they were just assigned. they go onto say as much literally:
but parts of this also strike me as a fib: i haven't got the passage handy, but i recall Calliope describing Caliborn being uninterested in humans & Earth until Callie's interest in them took root, with him then constructing his relationship to Earth in opposition to Calliope's -- but maybe i'm mistaken.
regardless, Caliborn berates & mocks Calliope for dressing up and presenting how she chooses, decrying it as playing pretend, but still chooses (as confirmed by the Epilogues) to perform maleness, as if maleness is the expected default and femaleness a superfluous and silly extension of that -- y'know, much how the patriarchy treats gender, and indeed, how the cispatriarchy often treats trans people's genders: it's normal and rational to want to be a man (or assert oneself as one), but it is backwards and regressive to want to be a woman (or assert oneself as one).
This (trans)misogynist understanding of gender seems to have been inherited and internalised by Meat!Calliope: they describe themselves as taking solace in having chosen being transfeminine, but REALLY, cherubs aren't biologically ANYTHING, and even though they don't mind being a girl. Calliope isn't saying, "I feel happier and less burdened by neutrality" (unlike Roxy) -- they're stating a sex realist & gender essentialist position. They literally cite biology:
They're being transphobic.
I think the reason that this has been incorporated into fanspaces as "Calliope is happily non-binary after feeling constrained by womanhood" is because, well, that's how Roxy presents his (at this point their) OWN gender:
it's a they household, a package deal; Calliope is implicated (without expressing it themselves) in Roxy's feelings about Earth gender:
they go on to describe the Earth gender binary as a weight & discomfort for them, especially the expectation of bearing children and the effects this had on them:
which are all really sensical reasons for somebody assigned female at birth to reject that assigned gender, but totally nonsensical reasons for Callie as a cherub to detransition. Indeed, when Calliope (briefly) talks about their own motivation on their own without being filtered through Roxy, it's presented as them feeling guilty about transitioning & that choosing womanhood is a reification of gender norms and that is in part responsible for the proliferation of misogyny (under exclusively a sex-based oppression model, no less):
Callie and Roxy are presenting transitioning to womanhood as a regressive reification of misogyny, and that detransition is the progressive solution to those regressive gender norms: they treat a trans woman detransitioning as the same action as somebody assigned female at birth transitioning.
As nuts as it may sound, I'm pretty convinced this a facet of the intended reading, because check out the canonically transgender Jade Harley's response to the idea that womanhood is a regressive choice:
is she concerned that the Rogue of Void's insistence that other people share the nothing-gender he plucked from the void will eventually turn upon herself, a woman with a penis? Is she worried about what "dichotomous human biology" might have to say of her?
