#374.5 - Beldum are mechanical Pokémon that communicate through precise pulses of magnetism rather than sound or speech. Though they still require nourishment, their bodies contain no blood; instead, every cell functions as a magnet. This intense magnetic force allows them to hover by repelling the ground’s natural magnetism and to exchange thoughts telepathically. As they mature, each Beldum’s magnetic pulse becomes stronger and more distinct, driving them to seek out another with a complementary signal. When such a partner is found, the two will begin a joining process that will fuse their bodies and link their brains together with a magnetic nervous system. During this intermediary stage, the bonded pair are known as Weldum. While the resulting Metang will possess twice the psychokinetic power, its intellect does not increase at the same rate, requiring time to adjust to its shared consciousness.

#375.5 - Metang inhabit harsh mountains and rugged terrain, where they hunt prey rich in magnetic minerals. By rotating their arms backward, they can propel themselves at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. When prey is located, Metang immobilize it with psychic power before seizing it in claws strong enough to tear through steel. As they mature, Metang begin seeking out other individuals, testing potential partners through intense battles that establish mutual respect and compatibility. When two evenly matched Metang agree to merge, the fusion process begins, with the stronger of the pair forming the dominant, upright body of Metaforge. Drawing on their earlier experience as Beldum, Metaforge remain highly capable fighters while fusing; for a time, the lower Metang can rotate freely, guarding their flanks from surprise attacks until the merge further along. Over time, their four brains are linked by an intricate neural network, and once fusion is finished, the resulting Metagross will be more intelligent than a supercomputer.   [Old Version]
