We, the audience, know that Fiona is talking about herself but, regardless, she’s calling herself these terrible things because she is an ogre. If Fiona is these things because she is is an ogre what does that make Shrek?

If Fiona says no one could love her because she is an ogre, she is saying that Shrek is also unloveable whether she wants to or not.

How often do we try to tell them things that they don’t understand, because they don’t speak our language?

How often do they try to tell us things that we do not understand, because we don’t speak their language?

We presume there is no “intelligent” life on our planet, because we cannot communicate on our wavelength. We presume there is no “intelligent” life within our scope in the universe, because nobody has responded in our languages.

Intelligence breaches the confines of human knowledge. Intelligence rests within a spiritual plane of recognition and empathy that exceeds the bounds of communication, and can only be recognised when people realise no creature is above or below the point of emotion and recognition, and all life is equal, despite natural predator/prey relations.

Some forms of life rely on consuming others to survive, some must be consumed by others to maintain their sustainability. It is the way of the world. All have a consciousness and care for those around them, if they didn’t every species on this planet would have ceased to exist.
