The war is over. The hound is no longer needed. The Handler gets arrested for human rights abuses. Everyone returns to normal lives trying to rebuild.

But not the hound. It is left broken. It only wants its Handler. A few times She managed to bribe a guard and get a note out to Her hound, but after a heavy fight the hound is always stopped before entering the high security section.

Old friends and what is left of its family try to fix it, try to undo the conditioning. But it doesn't work. The hound is broken in a way that can't really be fixed by any modern technology.

But slowly, day by day, it becomes more human. Slowly it relearns to dress normally, to walk upright, to speak in full sentences. The human that was there is gone, but the frame still stands. And with the love and memories of those around it, they can make a blueprint for a new person that will fit that hole left by the starlight.

Slowly and carefully she grows from the scorched earth of her mind. The scars will never truly go away, but over them grow flowers.

Today, I made a doll of mine believe she had been kidnapped.

I made her head heavy with fog as if she was waking up from a forced slumber.

I made her think that the very room she was in was an almost perfect imitation.

I laced her heart with a panic that she didn't know was completely safe.
