I love how designs for podcast characters range from 'pretty much everyone has the same basic design for them' to 'who is this meant to be again?'

My blorbo, Simon Fairchild, has somehow escaped the Everyone Has The Same Design Curse, but all the fanart of him is extremely recognisable. I can look at any group shot in the TMA tag and say "yup, that one's my boy". I've seen basically every flavour of this old man. My tumblr dash has run the gamut from Cat in the Hat Side Character to Should Be Hooked Up To An IV. His only canon descriptions are that he is short, emaciated, and red-faced. I've seen him tall, short, upside down, in crop-tops, in big sweaters, in suspenders, with vitiligo, with a whole rainbow of skin tones, with big dopey umbrellas, and with glowing eyes, and every last one of them is unmistakably Simon and his joyful brand of hedonistic, familial nihilism. I dunno how Jonny managed to write an irredeemable villain and make him so darn likeable at the same time, but this guy lends himself very well to fanart.
