Seeing how people still treat disabled people extremely poorly in this day and age, I'd like to bring some positivity to:
People with facial deformities, whether they are big or small, noticeable or not, you don't have to change a thing about yourself to make other people more comfortable or to gain their approval
People who can't/need aids to walk, lift things, see, hear, eat, or take their medication
People who use oxygen or feeding tubes
Chronically ill people who struggle with every day activities, or who need constant assistance to get through the day
People with growth, developmental, or muscular disorders who have uncommon body types
People with psychosis, personality disorders, traumagenic disorders, and neurodivergencies, they're not evil or scary, and they're not just faking for attention
People who need help with waste disposal, or who have little to no control over their bladder or bowel movements, it's not your fault and you deserve proper care and treatment
People with missing limbs or appendages, whether you were born without them or not
People who want to have kids or a family but are unable to physically have/take care of a child or another person
And for people who have ever been harrassed, neglected, ostracized, or told they were undesirable for their disability. You deserve better, and I'm sorry.

"Never get a chronic illness, it's really inconvenient for other people."
even "mild" chronic pain can suck. really bad. your body just aches constantly and even though it's minor, it can eat away at you. please take your pain seriously no matter how bad you think it is. no one deserves to endure it if it's not something that can be treated or mitigated.
Ppl will be like âend the stigma around mental illness uwuâ but still judge you if youâre unemployed or single or not completely self-sufficient or healthy or perfectly groomed or still live with parents and donât see the hypocrisy in that whatsoever

Friendly reminder that when you're recovering it's normal to miss being sick
Don't beat yourself up for having the urge to relapse, just know that the urge will pass
Think of the ways you're happier now, the ways your life is better
This is not forever, and you will get through it.
*eats a trigger food* *body flares up* How Could This Have Happened?????
Stop telling disabled people how our disabilities work.
That's it that's the post
hey if youâre disabled or chronically ill & have a hard time standing i want you to know that itâs ok to sit down when able bodied people wouldnât or arenât. not just in the context of using a wheelchair but just like. whenever. pull up a stool in front of the stove when you make mac & cheese. kneel on a chair in front of the sink when youâre washing the dishes. going outside to smoke/wait for a cab/whatever? pop a squat on the sidewalk/curb/stoop. get a shower chair. itâs not weird or shameful to minimize your pain & itâs not worth wasting spoons just because ânormal people would do it standing upâ
There are two times of year for us spoonies:
Summer: where symptoms are easier and a lot of conditions become easier to manage.
Not Summer: the time of year where pain levels are higher, walking can be more difficult and weird and not so wonderful symptoms appear for no reason.

the body positivity movement needs to start moving hard into including disabled bodies and this is what I mean by that. yes, it was a good step forward to change the rhetoric from âyour body is a good body if it meets these arbitrary aesthetic standardsâ to âyour body is a good body because it completes these tasks for youâ (ie: walking, eating, laughing, hugging, etc.) but that rhetoric is still not fully body positive, because it excludes bodies that do not do these things. the same as saying how we need to âfocus on healthy bodies not skinny bodiesâ sounds good at first, but it completely misses the point that unhealthy bodies deserve to be appreciated too. disabled bodies are still beautiful and still fundamentally good, not because âyour body is kind to you so you should be kind to your bodyâ- because not everyoneâs body is kind to them. but all bodies are still good bodies because they are what houses your soul. your body is what allows you to exist and live your life in whatever way you live it, and for that reason, it is a good and beautiful body. your body is what your loved ones see when they look at you and the love they feel for it as an extension of you makes it a good and beautiful body. your body doesnât have to look a certain way or behave a certain way to be good. it is good just for being here.
me, looking back on it all:
Where does it hurt
Yes...
woah woah ladies, settle down...... (talking to my digestive organs)
Accessibility is talked about like itâs only something disabled people need, like itâs an inconvenience or itâs something that goes above and beyond what the average person would expect. But abled people get their accessibility needs met without a thought. They get lights bright enough to see by, stairs, doors wide enough to fit through, chairs at the level they like, and all sorts of other things that are tailor-made just for them.
Abled people do have accessibility needs. The only difference is that abled people are granted access automatically and disabled people have to fight for that same privilege.

Thereâs been some posts lately about how you donât have to share everything about your life online which are A+ so hereâs a chronically ill/ disability specific version
- You donât have to put your entire diagnosis online, you donât have to put any diagnosis online
- You donât owe anyone a medical history, it is no one elseâs business except your own, your doctors, and carers (if needed)
- You donât have to justify using gait aids, service animals, medications, assistive devices, etc.
- You donât owe anyone an explanation about your financial situationÂ
- Its not your problem if people think youâre exaggerating or like things donât add up because you havenât given them all the information- its their own
- You donât have to justify how bad it is to say youâre struggling. You donât have to have the most diagnoses or the most severe symptoms. Youâre allowed to complain if you want to
Feel free to add anything else!
My body is evil and I'm ready to be done with it đ
I went to the bathroom like a normal person and as soon as I got up my intestines decided to be in the worst pain I've been in for quite some time. I couldn't focus on Minecraft, I struggled to eat, sitting there was extremely painful. My body has four hours to straighten up and let me not hurt enough to go to work because at this point I'd be completely useless đ
