T4T bunnyteeth cuz I’m projecting!

Friendly reminder: this is my opinion! And you are free to disagree with me on this.

One of the reasons (among many) that I got into Caine/Jax as a ship is because it's nature as a yaoi. I like the gays, this is my personal preference and is how I prefer to enjoy them, and having this fandom treat Trans Fem Jax as unequivocally canon because of Gooseworx's external confirmation essentially "straightwashing" the ship has an affect on my enjoyment of it.

The show itself never officially canonised Trans Fem Jax, he's called he/him throughout the entirety of the show and all Trans Fem readings are left to interpretation. Yes, Gooseworx and the VAs confirmed it after the fact, but I've seen JK Rowling externally "confirm" enough retroactive changes to Harry Potter plenty of times and how fandom both accepts and rejects certain ones based on what was in the original text. And no, this isn't due to my having any 'issues' with trans representation or anything like that. I love trans rep in media!

None of this means I hate Trans Fem Jax, because I don't! I think it's amazing that so many people see that in Jax and connect with him-slash-her on that level! Maybe I will write a fic with that concept some day, maybe I won't, I don't hate Trans Fem Jax and I don't want anyone labelling me as Transphobic for not writing him in this way in any of my current WIPs... because I've had similar issues in the past with the Hazbin Hotel fandom and it can be very distressing, as I'm sure you can imagine, to have the way you ship a character be flamed and torn down because of a popular headcanon.

I ship Caine/Jax as a gay yaoi ship. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who prefer them as a yuri! Or yes, as a straight couple. No one version of Jax or his gender presentation should supersede others or make anyone in this fandom feel less valid for enjoying what they enjoy, and I sincerely hope no one is going to harass others for not presenting Jax as Trans Fem in their fanart/fanfiction/so on. Remember, these are fictional characters that we're free to interpret however we wish! We're all here to have fun.

That's my two-cents anyway. At the end of the day, please be respectful and understanding of the way others choose to enjoy Bunnyteeth and Jax's gender identity.
