Rewatching a lot of Jodie Who since I updated my blu-rays for my birthday. I know this is not an original observation but it truly is remarkably striking just how heavily this part of the show feels like regurgitated Davison era. Like, there are TOO many parallels

Younger blonde Doctor

The Doctor is outwardly highly approachable but extremely emotionally distant

Four person TARDIS crew

Soap-operatic character continuity that exists parallel to but rarely if ever intersects with the plot and thematic continuity

Synth heavy soundtrack

Overcrowded supporting casts who are constantly getting invited into the TARDIS en masse

First season heavy on standalones and fresh concepts with low stakes.

Second season orgy of fanwank and memberberries

Austere industrial settings and cynical depictions of violence

The Doctor's competence amd morality more questionable than normal

Persistent lesbian subtext between two of the leads

Incongruous celebrity stunt casting

3 seasons long with steadily declining quality and public reception

Lead writer who is clearly more comfortable writing cop shows

Sorry to barge in on your post, but i recently wrote a paper for my uni classes where i was analysing certain themes in classic who specifically. And one of the things that stood out to me was the correlation between the shift to the incredibly depressing and heavy themes in the stories of the Davison era and the prime-ministership of Margaret Thatcher.

Now i am not that familiar with 13's run so do correct me if I'm wrong but there are also similar circumstances of "big british fuckup" when we consider Brexit was happening, which feels like it connects those two eras even more.

Oh and also there's the "The Master uses a disguise, and is not very subtle about it and still the Doctor never picks up on it till it's too late" bit, of course.

By using the 'travel with me' dialogue option, you can skip over most sidequests by instantly killing the one-off companion.

When attempting a No Kills run, it is easiest to play as the Seventh Doctor with Ace or the Fourth Doctor with Leela; by calling your companion to follow and then placing her between you and an enemy, she will kill it without any kills added to your statistics.

The Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead sidequest may seem important, due to furthering the Donna branch of your companion relationships, but it introduces River, and while she is useful in many of the Eleventh Doctor quests, there are many unskippable quests that you have to complete once you've met her.

To skip all Master boss fights and conflicts during UNIT levels, play as Jo.

When fighting Daleks, jumping on top of them causes them to glitch and spin in endless circles, quickly clearing out any other enemies in the area. However, this only works with earlier Doctors.

Related to this, Daleks are far more physically vulnerable and easy to fight when playing as one of the 'Classic' Doctors.

Rory can die, but he never stays dead. It's likely a glitch, but it's nonetheless very useful. He also has the properties of an Auton at points. When in New York, he and Amy are also immortal, but beware of glitches that can occur that change the in-universe date.
