Wait…why are busses depicted as a dangerous way to commute in American media?
I never really thought about it before but busses are one of the safest ways to commute to work I can imagine. I’m not ever worried when I take the train but if I had to pick which I’d feel more safe on it would be the bus.
I used to travel between towns late at night when I was a teenager/young adult woman and it would be straight up cozy and a nice way to end my day.
I think a bus feels safter to me because the driver is always right there in case something happens, while you’re kinda on your own on a train late at night.
So did you ever see Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Remember the plotline about the Red Car trolley being bought out and dismantled by Cloverleaf, and the villain's Big Reveal that they planned to demolish Toontown and put a highway through it, and people would use it because the Red Car trolley wasn't there to use anymore and so they'd be FORCED to buy a car?
That really happened, in the US. Only instead of the villain being an evil cartoon posing as a judge, the villain was General Motors and Ford and all the big car companies. They bought public transit lines and dismantled them. They lobbied congress to fund the interstate highway system and they CONTINUE to lobby the us govt to keep trains and public transit from having any money, while making sure the roads get lots of it. They are responsible not only for the dismantling of public transit but also the public's perception that public transit is bad and even dangerous.
American media thinks busses and trains are dangerous because the car companies have spent DECADES and billions of dollars on propaganda making sure Americans think that so they will continue to buy cars and not question how much roads and highways have destroyed the landscape.
its also a healthy dosage of classism and ableism and a hatred of homeless people and addicts all of which are the largest demographic of people who use the public bus

maybe i'm confused but like.. don't trans men have a degree of privilege over women? that doesn't discount the fact you're oppressed for being trans but gay men and black men are oppressed for other reasons and are still privileged in other ways over women. like.. idk if a person is fully passing as a man doesn't that give them male privilege?
No because any male privilege we could possess is extremely conditional and can be taken away at any moment, and closet privilege isn't a thing. We can have situational privileged, which we can absolutely talk about and how it reflects on what society deems desirable, but the same can be said of women too.
I’m too tired to formulate an entire response, so I’m going to leave this here and make one extra addition.
Most tmen and tmascs will need gynecologist care whether for breast exams, pelvic exams, pap smeare, etc. In some states insurance can DENY to cover your visit if you have an M on your identification, meaning if you’ve changed your documents insurance can tell you to go fuck yourself, because “why would a man need that sort of care?”
Also, is it really privilege if you lose it the moment you stop being 10000% stealth? I’d love to talk to my woman coworkers about issues we both face, but I can’t let them know I’m trans or I’m a target of harassment (because my job does have bigoted people).

It *is* a problem that charismatic species are often focused on for conservation at the expense of less charismatic but important species, but threatened species that are the subject of a lot of public outreach and education are also typically strategically selected.
I suspect that monarch butterflies are an example of this. Milkweed is a highly valuable plant for pollinators and a host plant for like. 400+ insect species. Getting people to plant it to save monarchs is funny because you're essentially finessing people into saving a ton of other insects that they wouldn't ordinarily care about
"Save the bees" isn't misguided, it's just the version of the truth you would tell a 5 year old. If a small kid asks about the colors of the rainbow you don't start explaining that visible light has wavelengths of 400-700 nanometers
A lot of people don't even know that there are different types of bees. things like planting native flowers, stopping using insecticides, etc, benefit all bees and all insects generally
ALSO
it's actually a GOOD thing to have lots of conservation efforts focusing on "Charismatic megafauna," especially apex predators
Because big animals like tigers need a LOT of space
So creating a preserve to save tigers...saves thousands of other species, because the tigers need miles and miles of habitat to live on, and that habitat needs to be healthy to support the tigers
They're called "umbrella species" and they're a great thing.
