I was not expecting DC: AoR to introduce the fact that Gelflings have a major racism problem but wow. It’s so much a standard part of their society that neither this character nor Brea is outraged over her being punished for making a friend outside her clan. And it took Brea a whole night of trying to puzzle out the clans “natural hierarchy” before she figured out the whole point was that there wasn’t one. In the meantime, she made some pretty fast assumptions about the order it was supposed to be. I hope they’ll continue to address this in future seasons. Like I can see the Resistance’s efforts to work together being majorly hindered by generations of habitual/institutional racism.
