Tadahiro Uesugi did visual development for Windy Day very early on in the development stage. We love Tadahiro's elegant, graphic style, the suggestion of light and space and his brilliant use of color. Our director Jan Pinkava’s initial direction was that though we will see a world through the small screen of a phone, “it should be both beautiful and elegantly simple.”

Costume Design art by Tadahiro Uesugi for Coraline. Agh, there’s her cute raincoat! If you missed my earlier post about Uesugi’s art, you can check out this little showcasing I made the other day.
Once again, Uesugi’s colors are the driving force behind his artwork. Coraline’s bright (and adorable!) raincoat and red umbrella pop against the mellow and creamy colors of the house and yard.

It’s that time again where I talk too much. This time let’s discuss Princess Serenity’s famous dress which is well-known as an interpretation of the “Palladium” / “Il Palladio” dress in the Christian Dior, Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1992 collection. Here’s a very nice post by Moonie Trivia with detailed pics comparing them with the included inspiration, an Ionic column.
