HOW IT STARTED It seemed like yesterday when Pastors asked if I will like to come on Full Time. When I said yes, I was greeted with the brightest and warmest smile, “Welcome to the team!” People often ask, “work at a church? Why?” It’s simple… Purpose… Dream come true…The list goes on and on… No reason for “why not?” In our Staff Meeting a few days back, the same heart that Pastors had for us then (when I first joined), it is the same today. “When I hire you, I will take care of you.” I teared… 😭 Through the years, Pastors are always looking out for us. Happy birthday @pastor.lia ! • Every year, there's so many things to shout out about but in the last year, one thing that I really am grateful for is how you have been the same loving and caring person since I first had my personal encounter with you all those years back in 2006 and subsequently in 2007. • Back then... Whenever there was an opportunity, you would ask about my life, my family, and if I was doing alright. I remember how you would celebrate the little victories and success with us - when we graduate our schools, when our family members got saved, and so many more. • Fast forward to... 2020, 2021 - you are the same! In midst of a Wednesday afternoon, I was surprised when @pastor.how and @pastor.lia called @joeljiang and myself in for a meeting. When we entered, both pastors, told us (with the widest smiles on their faces), "we have a gift for you". It was a busy day of meetings (that ended late in the night)... a busy season of filmings, writing book & articles, meetings, but both SPs, took out time just to give us this gift. Thank you SPs! Knowing that we were fans of Star Wars, you “thought of us and immediately thought to get it for us” - Limited Edition 40th Anniversary Star Wars shoes! SPs, you didn't just give it; you made sure that we tried the shoes, that the shoes fit, you went through the details, sharing about the shoes. 😭😭😭 In the details, I experienced your love and thoughtfulness! The woman in the pictures is my wife @joyceechua... 20 September is her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A most amazing woman, she is! • You never fail to inspire me to love beyond the comfort zone; seeing how you care and love for every person that enters your life. • You never fail to encourage me to give a little more, stretch a little bit more in faith. When there are times, where I say, "I don't think...", you will reply with, "why not?" • You never fail to be a gatekeeper and watch my back (I know it's harder with so much surface area), whenever I may seemingly step a little out of line, you will remind me with simple... "do you really think...?" • Beyond all that, you are also a loving and doting mother; giving your 200% for Caelan even while giving 200% at work. This came in the post today, and it was a surprise from @pastor.how and @pastor.lia. Reading the card, I’m incredibly moved by Pastors heart and the heart for the ministry. • A few years ago, when Chinese Gold Ministry was started, the heart was for our family and loved ones... over the years, it is still the same, it is still about the family members and loved ones. • “For Chinese Gold, you are God’s ER doctors and nurses” - That brought so much weight and purpose to why we do what we do. • It is ALWAYS about God’s people.
