Saw your post about how BTS ARMY(s) have been ignorant about certain controversial things BTS have done in the past—and may still be doing—but which often get hidden for various reasons today.
And I totally agree with you.
Being an ARMY (still), I feel like people tend to protect these artists more than necessary.
But I must say, regarding the facts you cited in your post—which are 100% true—it’s been seen in many of their later interviews and exclusive messages that they have come forward, acknowledged their mistakes, and apologised for most of them.
For what they haven’t, we can easily assume that the company may be at fault for encouraging or allowing such actions.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the purest, most genuine, and legendary artists.
The recent controversy involving the entirety of K-pop turning a blind eye to the message behind Breast Cancer in the 2025 campaign shocked many fans worldwide, didn’t it?
And moments like that are exactly why blind support becomes a problem.
I remember posting about it on Weverse so the artists would notice, and even writing to individual members hoping they’d respond. But other fans seemed more focused on how good the artists looked—sharing clips, pictures, and comments about interactions between members of different groups.
In the end, I’ve realised that all we can do is stop ourselves from getting so consumed by a fandom that we start overlooking things that matter—and even praising them in the process. I’ve learnt that. I hope others do too. And I’m not just talking about BTS.
Even now, I still listen to ARIRANG and would love to attend a concert—but that comes purely from enjoying their music.
And yes, I can’t ignore the positive influence they’ve had.
I just hope they stay genuine, learn from their mistakes, and set the same example for their fans.
Because support should never come at the cost of awareness!!
this is a great example of what a bts fan should look like. acknowledging what they've done and holding them to it but still listening to their music is completely fine. i do it with some artists myself. for some situations, separating the art from the artist is perfectly fine.
i loved how you worded this in every way and you are absolutely right with the part where we shouldn't be consumed with fandoms. thank you !!!
