Someone 100% at one point told Hiccup that if he really hates his name he could just go by nis middle name.

Hiccup: "I mean, Hiccup is literally what you call the runt."

"...Well, if you hate it so much, just go by your middle name instead."

"It's horrendous."

"Oh, please, it can't be that bad."

"No. My middle name is literally 'H-O-R-R-E-N-D-O-U-S'."

In the scene hiccup is read in the rock aloud and when Tuff asks him to continue reading he says too different lines.

In English hiccup says “and ever, apparently”

In Italian it’s “and ever and ever and ever” (actually he says dei secoli three times which means literally “of the centuries” but in context it basically means and ever (nei secoli dei secoli means forever and ever, which is the context here… I don’t know why I’m explaining this))

I don’t know I think it’s just more sassy the way it’s spoken with his eye roll. Definitely watch that scene in both languages and let me know if I’m going insane please.

Let me explain.

In diving, the number one rule is NEVER HOLD YOUR BREATH. Especially when ascending from depth. This is because, as you rise in the water, air in your lungs with expand. If you hold your breath, the air in your lungs will expand and can cause serious injury and likely death in the form of imploded lungs that hiccup definitely could not heal from in Viking times.

There are numerous other injuries that could also occur in the case of holding his breath.

However, as hiccup was breathing and then holding his breath at depth, he saw the submaripper approach toothless, causing him the expel the remaining air in his lungs in the form of “TOOTHLESS”

This saved his life in the following moments when hiccup rapidly ascended following the submaripper picking up the cauldron.

He still would’ve gotten the bends (see my “hiccup would have gotten the bends” post, top post I have to my knowledge so it’s easy to find on my blog) but he won’t die of a lung implosion.
