jason todd being a crier is important to me somewhere fundamental right up between my heart and my lungs.
Someone on twitter put this together but even still it’s missing my favorite Lost Days moment
jt brain rot is real cuz why am I reading jl/tt/yj team books and being like ‘hm. This is cute but I wish Jason got to have this.’
"His trust" What trust ?
I understand the "Jason not pushing Garzonas adds to Jason's choice to run away" reading but I don't like that it typically acts like Jason would have no reason to run if he had pushed Garzonas.
Jason overidentifies with victims. We know this. Jason sees himself and his experiences and the experiences of people he knew in the victims he encounters as Robin. (Whether or not you subscribe to Jason as a victim of childhood SA, Gloria and the dumpster murder victims all resemble more modern depictions of Catherine Todd, who was also shown to be taken advantage of by men who knew she was vulnerable and Jason was aware of it). So when Bruce says that Judy is wrong to avenge her sister, when he says that the corrupt justice system that allowed the murderer to go free to begin with is the basis of the morality Batman and Robin must adhere to, when the best plan of action he has for stopping Garzonas is deporting him so he can continue to rape and brutalize women where Bruce doesn't have to look at the victims- Jason does not perceive it as Bruce talking about random women or case files.
Jason can not detach himself or compartmentalize like Bruce does because it is literally retraumatizing him every time he goes out onto those streets to see powerful men abuse women and get away with it. So what Jason hears is Bruce, The Batman, his dad, saying that Jason and his mom would be acceptable victims if their circumstances were different. Bruce can not, will not, protect him. Bruce sees the lives and possible redemption of the people who have hurt them as equally important or even more prioritized than their safety and closure. Because the law said so. And everyone knows illegal vigilantes Batman and Robin have to fight for and work with the law!! I would not want to stay with that man either! That man who believes that even if I didn't push him, even if I just didn't save the seriel rapist, I would still be guilty. Because retaliation from victims is equally as bad as the initial abuse of course.
That is the system Jason is upholding as Robin. That is the man Jason earnestly believed would have saved him and gave him the chance to save others. How could you stand to live with someone who, if it were you in those files, your body in the dumpster, your neck snapped from the noose, would reduce your remains to a clue and then, when the mystery is over and justice neglected for the pride and status of wealthy men, go back home to his big warm house safe from the misery and community of the city he claims to protect. And what did ADITF do but prove Jason right.

Sorry I haven't been posting hockey season is really getting to me this year. Here's self-indulgent interest crossover JT
MISC ⬇️
Maybe we shouldnt medicate jason. Maybe its not him thats broken, its psychiatry. Maybe we should let him run free like wild horses
Jason on lithium like maybe i should get a stable job at a bank. And thats why we must never let this happen
jason on lithium: i have to get a real identity what about my taxes
Jason on lithium: i need to work on my credit score
He’s going to settle down with a wife and 2.5 kids and a house with a picket fence that doesn’t have bombs rigged in the foundation
The helmet has range 🐏🐈
.
I don't think Jason's thought about it- I don't think Bruce has either. But do you think Bruce might've sent Willis to jail a few times? The most interesting thing to do with him imo is to make him one of a million nameless goons that Batman doesn't think much about. He's not Cluemaster, he's goon #20 who Batman shoves into a wall and knocks out and ties up before moving on to fight Two-Face or the Penguin or what have you. And Jason implies that Willis was often in and out of his life because he was in and out of prison so... Is that kind of Bruce's fault?
DISPELL the myth that Jason came out of the Lazarus pit Red Hood sized. He was very much still Robin sized immediately after the pit. Like understand that this is the vibe when Jason was trying to blow up the Batmobile:

If i wrote a "if they never met batman" episode, Jason would absolutely be a woman
#I am once thinking about jason Being Robin rather than being the next robin. i am once again thinking about the boy wonder #i am once more thinking about hair dye and hair cuts and wearing a costume jason didn't choose #or thinking about being adopted to Be Robin before knowing youre adopted #ough. oughb. anyway in a world without knowing bruce wayne. jason has become transgender faster #(aware of it and transitioned) while canon jay remains unknowing 😔
My tags
I love the jaybin run because basically literally the whole time Jason is like if you don't give me attention and have me around all the time I'll die . And yknow what he was right. Not sure what Batman expected to happen when he started pulling away from Jason and leaving him on his own more often after stacking traumatic events like
on its own from the ither post. LOOK AT THEM....
I laugh, every single time :P

I think it's incredible that Bruce could absolutely get Jason to do whatever he wanted if Bruce just wasn't the worst in the world at it

In lrb someone mentioned in their tags how DC wanted to kill off camp in the 80s. When you make Jason nothing but an angry, grumpy, brute instead of camp, you're letting DC win.
One thing I love about Jason Todd is that, when he is at his most angry, his reaction ultimately boils down to ‘fuck you, I can and will do your job better.’
Pissed off at Bruce for the first time? Not only is he attempting to show Bruce that killing can be a good thing, he’s also beating half of his rogue gallery at their own game as a means to an end. Black Mask is fuming and Jason is just like ‘shut up this ain’t about you’
Pissed off at Penguin? Lock him inside his own panic room and take over his whole business.
Pissed off at Dick? Murder Nightwing.
Pissed off at Tim? Cosplay him in his own house.
He is a menace, but weirdly predictable in his anger. I can just imagine Bruce getting a call from Oracle to say that Jason is pissed off again.
Bruce: who’s he pissed off at this time?
Barbara: Riddler, by the looks of things
*Bruce, later that night, finds Jason swinging Nygma’s cane like a bō, with a fat notebook of completed riddles taped to the Batsignal. There is also a hot pink post-it note with the words ‘THEY’RE PISS EASY AND YOUR GRAMMAR IS SHIT.’
Just Jason Todd at the first hint of annoyance:
Passive-aggressive (mostly aggressive) unwilling (but nobody asked him or wants him to do this) employee of the month Jason Todd
