The funny thing about actually reading The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas after hearing a million takes about it is realizing that the child torture dungeon section opens with, "Are you capable of believing in this? Are you capable of seeing a better world even conceptually? A world that is Just and Kind and no less intelligent than you or I? No? Fine." And ENDS with, "Does it work now you cynical asshole? Can you buy into the idea of an ideal world now that I've added the child torture dungeon? Those who travel away from the Omelas that you can believe go to places you can't conceive of because you won't let yourself." And knowing that every take you've read focuses heavily on the fucking Child Torture Dungeon as the focal point of the story's meaning without realizing that the author is bullying them because of course they do-

When I was having a return to getting too wrapped up in stupid arguments the other day like a dummy, i started thinking about "Steph used a $1000 dollar microphone being evidence her family isn't financially struggling" thing
Then I remembered Steph specifically saying it was from Radio Shack analogue.
I kind of knew this without googling, but I did to confirm, Radio Shack has never sold S1000 parabolic microphones or like, any kind of mic like that. But I did come across this Someone did create a parabolic microphone OUT of inexpensive radio shack gear
