hi! tbh i've never been good with giving advice because most of times i just free style it , i'm not gonna lie, but here's a few things that helped me that i have learned from others thru the years and implemented on my art!

just note these are related to my own artstyle and some might not work for everyone as styles and techniques are different, but feel free to have fun either way...!

for color, ......i dont know.....

i like to mess a lot with it, i tend to color first base colors of a character, then start pondering on the vibe i want for the drawing (i.e: a warm & comforting vibe? a cold and uncomfortable atmosphere?) and i grab a base color of such (if i pick the warm & comforting, i go for pinks, warm greens, oranges, etc.), then try to match the base colors with the palette chosen! this MAY change mid drawing, because i play with colors a lot, so i could change my mind mid way LOL

as for shading / rendering, i do it by sections! once i have the colors chosen, i shade per color one by one, like this!

but sometimes i get experimental and start coloring OVER the sketch alone, skipping lineart, like i made on this one :3
