Y’all don’t understand that Dek is underdeveloped physically? He’s the runt. That doesn’t mean he’s a child or a minor, it means he’s physically smaller than the average of his species and that’s it. And there isn’t any point in canon that Dek is confirmed to be a child or adolescent at all, so what is the issue?

Ngl ive been loving all the silly and goofy art of Dek and Thia with Bud. It's been making my day a lot and its a nice change of pace from the feral art to the more serious poses and whatnot. Idk its nice to see fandom spaces look like they're having fun again
I know I've been gone for a while but I kind of want to rant about my feelings on the Predator Franchise.
Warnings: Sexism, Violence against women mentioned but not in any detail, also I'm only talking about cis men and women in this. If any trans, nb, genderfluid, or other folks would like to add their input feel free. In fact I encourage it since I would love to know more people's POV on this.
I will state I am making a lot of generalizations based on my own personal experience. If you do not fit in that box, know I am not taking about you.
I'll also say I know there are several women who have proven themselves against the Predators over the course of the series. This post is more about me dissecting the mind of a man, so sorry if it sounds like I'm ignoring them.
So I was speaking with my male coworker recently about the Predator series and more specifically about the new movie. (I have not seen it as of the making of this post so everything I say about it is either speculation or stuff I've heard from others) He was explaining to me that he was hesitant to see the new movie as from the trailer it looked like they were trying to soften the yautja's image and move them away from being a monster. I then pointed out that the yautja haven't really ever been "monsters", so much as a separate sentient species that just happens to hostile towards people (I'd also like to note my older manager who's been into horror longer then I've been alive agreed with me on this, that yautja don't really fit what we'd think of as monsters).
My coworker then hit's me with the argument that yes they're sentient, but they're cruel and scary. Scary? I have been watching Predator movies since I was but a small child and I can't say I ever viewed the yautja as scary. Even as an adult I'm actually grown really fond of the yautja. I love how they have a vary strict honor code and choose not to harm those they view as weaker then them (women, children, elderly, sick, pregnant people). A lot of women I know who are also Predator fans like the yautja.
Then I talked to another man, who expressed a similar fear of the yautja, and also remembered how my relative talked about the Predator being a horror movie, and then I saw how freaked out men were online about women thinking the yautja were hot. Some even baffled the women would view the yautja as "safe".
Then it dawned on me.
Men are actually afraid of the yautja.
Like to them the yautja are still come scary monster hunting the big muscular protagonist in the shadows.
Then I got to thinking about WHY men view the yautja as scary when women don't. When I remembered, the yautja are not a threat to women, but they are to men. In the Predator series there are several examples of the yautja leaving women alone and going after men, even going out of their way to not harm women.
Now I would like to note that MOST men would not be in the yautja's radar for prey. We're talking about a group of hunters that is looking for the most worthy prey. They're after the best of the BEST men. Not the average Bob or John.
HOWEVER, I'm sure we've all experienced the ego of a cis straight man, and how they tend to project onto those power fantasy characters. Also how some of them think they are the PEAK of what men have to offer (ew). So I imagine a creature existing that can fold that macho male fantasy like a lawn chair can be a bit... off putting. I also think it's very important to remember Predator is a criticism of masculinity.
So basically they have the huge, physically intimidating force, that can and will kill them, they may never see it coming, is sociality obligated to pursue them, has more recourses then them, and basically views them as an object to posses.

How men treat women.
The yautja make men feel the same way women do when dealing with men, and that bothers them.
Women love the yautja because they're not a threat to them and men are afraid of them because they made men feel like the same fear women do.

Just to add my own thing on this, I'm AFAB, and when I see them and their codes of honor, it makes me wish and crave for my partner to have similar qualities in morals in that manner. They are strong, but don't do things that will harm another person in any capacity. Like gentle masculinity if that makes any sense? (Im probably not really).
The monsterfucker in me yeah loves the thought of someone bigger than me being able to lift me up, sure. But the deeper part of me, the one who saw Scar and Lex teaming up in AVP, saw them together and seen that Scar basically saw her as an equal due to the fact she was able to kill a xenomorph. He saw her as strong and capable, just like the Yautja women are in his culture. He didn't see her as beneath him because she was a woman. Maybe he thought she wasn't that much of a thought prior to killing a xenomorph, but that had nothing to do with her being a woman but moreso because she's a human. Her gender didn't have a say in her capabilities. It was just because she was a species that aren't known to be as strong as yautja.

Okay, I squeezed another and wanted to play with the mountain bois. Fun fact: if you don't know, feathers are actually soft scales. Birds are "reptiles" but warm-blooded, and also in their own category both serving as birds but reptiles. Then of course they share a lot of common traits with reptiles and also descendants of dinosaurs.
Yautja are under the umbrella of reptiles but I thought let's just play with that and given these guys live in colder climates and add a penguin like fur quality on their dorsal sides. They will still don pelts and the like for harsher times. I also imagine them having a blubber like layer too for insulation.
I mean tbh..😆 they do look like strippers compared to Dek’s design (idk if its just me but The older movies intentionally made them to have some sex appeal of some sort)
I gotta agree- Bring back the Cunty Fishnets! wanna see Yautjas in upcoming new installations with those snake patterns/stripes design too 🤭
